WBB: Stanford 54 -- @Washington St. 46 - 2006alum - 11-14-2025
WSU looks to break a 49-game losing streak against the Cardinal. Notably, Massey only gives us a 77% chance of winning, so we should not feel too comfortable about this game, and I would presume this is one of WSU's marquee win opportunities for their season, now that their conference schedule is pretty forgettable.

Agreed. A lot of passing around the perimeter until the shot clock winds down. For all that Swain was supposedly can take it to the basket, she's had opportunities she either hasn't taken, or have led to turnovers. A lot of sloppiness and complacency. And we are so much better in the post than WSU is, so why the heck aren't we getting it inside to our posts more?
Also: so nice to hear Mary Murphy calling this one. Brings me back to the ol' Pac-12 Network days.

WSU was often sagging in to clog up drives and passes to the post, giving us 3s that we mostly missed.

Yeah, offense extremely sluggish. I’m not sure what our offense really is. We are somewhat effective when we run the pick and roll. Other than that, when we get a rare break, it gives Swain an opportunity to attack the basket. On the minus side, lots of moving the ball not particularly crisply around the perimeter. I’ve also been surprised (in all four games) by how often Somfai puts up a three or long jumper early in the shot clock. That said, we are not very good at the end of clock situations either. Finally, what happened to getting the ball to Nunu with time ans space to do her thing, down low, FT line, or baseline? She needs more meaningful touches, but the offense seems too much focused on making those who can attack the basket defaulting to perimeter jumpers.

changed as of October 2025 - jerseys are cut shorter and don't stay tucked in as well when players are active with arms overhead

Pet peeve of mine to see a big take a lot of threes.
Among other reasons, you are pretty much losing that big having much chance of any rebound.
I realize a big taking a three, and making it can help draw big defenders out more and open up for the offense.
But generally, seeing bigs taking a lotta threes to me seems like a broken down or lazy offense, and not a great recipe for winning.
Somfai now 0-4 on threes and this is probably 3 too many tries in my book.
