RIP Scott Laidlaw - Mick - 02-02-2026

Stanford alum Scott Laidlaw, member of Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl XII champions passed yesterday. Laidlaw (14th round), along with fellow Stanford alum Pat Donovan (4th round), was a member of the Cowboys' "Dirty Dozen" draft class of 1975. Tony Hill joined the Cowboys from Stanford two years later. Laidlaw played for the Cowboys for five years and finished his career with the Giants in 1980.

Laidlaw started at fullback at Stanford his junior year. As a soph, he rushed 48 times for 268 yards, 5.6 per carry. Led Stanford in rushing with 639 yards and 4 TDs as a junior and led the team again in rushing with 636 yards.

Laidlaw was a solid backup running back for the Cowboys, scoring nine TDs across his career in the regular season and two TDs in the playoffs during the Cowboys' successful Super Bowl run. His best season was 1976 when he started seven games, rushed 94 times for 424 yards and a 4.5 yard average, catching 38 passes for 325 yards.
