Several Stanford players to be named to Scout's 2011 All-Sophomore All-American Team (yes, I know, I know...the internet's continued serving of an infinite number of niches continues to astound. But it might well be a better indicator than freshman all-America.) They're all honorable mention, which is unfortunate, but still:
Defense: Ben Gardner, Jarek Lancaster, Trent Murphy http://cfn.scout.com/2/1138931.html
Offense: Zach Ertz, Levine Toilolo http://cfn.scout.com/2/1138930.html
In both categories Stanford tied or set the lead in the Pac-12 conference in terms of pure, absolute numbers, though of course other schools had players who were more esteemed. However, I continue to think Ben Gardner and Trent Murphy are underrated.

The future is bright. I'm excited for the Fiesta bowl, but I'm really anticipating the 2012 season to begin. I can't wait to see what personality emerges as Shaw further imprints his personality on the team and new stars emerge from AL's long shadow. Skov and Lyons will be back. Another QB will step under center. Stepfan will be back behind a solid line. Our Ertz and Toilolo will roam the end zone.
Those predicting the quick demise of Stanford football will be sorely disappointed.
