Stanford Cross Country 2026 - BobK - 10-30-2026

In the ACC League Championships today, the Stanford Men finished 5th.
The Women start soon

Sadly Stanford’s top two Women runners aren't running
Kennedy and Bunnage. They haven’t run this season. Hope was they start now

The Stanford Women were 14th

It's time for JJ and Ricardo to go.

Men are a complete and utter disaster across the board, and have been for a few years now. Not qualifying for NCAAs last year for the first time in 30+ years, and it only gets worse. Still have the recruits, just not the performance. That's on Ricardo.

JJ has built a nice mid-d women's squad (read: 800m specialists), but that does nothing for the team in cross country or track.

Stanford is a distance school. The AD, who probably knows nothing about the sport (and, let's face it, doesn't care), made a poor desperation hire at the time when Milt left and Diljeet didn't take the job. This stuff can and should be fixed.

The AD is in his second year how does he not care. Weird.
Women distance recruiting for 2027 is outstanding
I don't know what’s wrong with the Young Brothers

This year yes disappointing

Stanford Women were 6th last two years in the NCAA Championships

I was referring to the AD at the time of the hire, Muir, who may have been Stanford's all-time worst AD but that's a different discussion. Current AD appears to know nothing about any sport but who knows. Bain consultant who was a disaster at Nike doesn't mean much.

Stanford gets recruits in our sport because it's Stanford. Literally no Stanford coach for decades, if not longer, has had anything less than top 5 recruiting classes year after year after year. Yes, the men are the bigger issue, but JJ isn't coaching up to the talent either. And he's the director of the program so the men's nose-dive to being a sh-tshow is on him too. So, yes, they should both go. But if nothing else JJ should replace Ricardo.
