Let's look at 2012 LBs and where they fit in.
Inside:Â Sr. Shayne Skov, Jr. Jarek Lancaster, Jr. Joel Hemschoot, So. AJ Tarpley, Fr. Blake Martinez
Outside: Sr. Chase Thomas, Sr. Alex Debniak, Jr. Trent Murphy, Jr. Blake Lueders, So. James Vaughters, RFr. Kevin Anderson, Fr. Noor Davis
If you look at the available players, it is clearly obvious there is an overload at OLB. Had Odenigbo committed, it would be even worse, but obviously a great "problem" Stanford fans would love to have. Conversely, the ILB seems a little thin. Skov was an AA, first round NFL pick pre-injury, but nobody knows what he will be like post-injury. If he plays, he could be good or he might be a shadow of his former self. It's just totally unknown.
I really expected a lot more from James Vaughters as a Frosh. I even thought he might step up in the bowl game after the extended bowl practices, kind of like Ben Gardner did in the Orange Bowl the year before, and be a difference maker in a Stanford win, but again, he didn't do much. If Kevin Anderson and Noor Davis show more than Vaughters at OLB in Spring and Fall camps, it might make sense to move Vaughters to ILB.Â
And what about Patrick Skov? He was a FB at first, but with Hewitt, Meinken, and Ward, and the kind of athlete he is, might it make more sense to move P. Skov to ILB? Blake Martinez looks like a future starter, but my guess would be he redshirts in 2012.
What do you guys think about the Linebackers and how do you see the LB depth chart looking in 2012?

I like our defense for next year, particularly if Skov and Lyons can stay healthy.
It may be the strength of our team (not that the offense isn't going to be good).
