Yeah, the worst case scenario is not driven by the record.

Quote:Luck returns to lead the Cardinal to a victory over Temple in the Eagle Bank Bowl, but it\'s hardly a day of celebration when Harbaugh announces he\'s headed to Michigan.

That\'s big news over at Rose Bowl practices for both California and Ohio State.

A week after Cal\'s victory, Luck announces he\'s entering the NFL draft.

"I\'m sure the program will do great things during the second tenure of Walt Harris," Luck says.

Kal in a Rose Bowl, Luck leaving, and the return of Walt Harris?  That is one godawful 7-win season.

I think Ted is having a lot of fun writing these best case-worst case pieces.

Stanford fans will have fun with C.al\'s worst case scenario too.

http://espn.go.com/blog/pac10/post/_/id/10994/best-case-worst-case-california-3

Quote:Cal is uniformly bad while losing its final three games to Oregon, Stanford and Washington.

The 5-7 finish is Jeff Tedford\'s first losing season.

"We\'re going to have to take a long look at everything we do," Tedford says.

Stanford beats Iowa in the Rose Bowl and finishes ranked fifth in the country. Coach Jim Harbaugh wins National Coach of the Year and signs a long-term contract extension.

"We\'ve only just begun," Harbaugh says. "Prometheus has brought fire down the mountain and we have become mighty men. But we only will be happy when we live among the Olympians."

Well, Olympians already do live amongst Stanford students.  Gold-medal winning Olympians, no less.

Best case kal scenario for Stanford fans: massive kal losses (incl Big Game) while Tedford signs a contract extension.

Quote:Best case kal scenario for Stanford fans: massive kal losses (incl Big Game) while The state of California\'s highest paid employee signs a contract extension.

Miller has been posting from worst to first in his preseason Pac-10 rankings.  Stanford was the 7th to be entered, so that means he will predict Stanford to finish 4th.  That\'s not too bad.  And it appears he will predict that C.a.l. will finish #7.

But he has yet to assign USC, assume #2, that would mean he thinks Stanford will get the Pac-10 #3 bowl assignment since USC will get nothing.  This year #3 gets the Holiday Bowl.  Sounds great.  It would be nice to think that best and worst are equally probable.  That would mean Stanford finishing #2 in the final rankings is as probable as a 7-6 season.

C.a.l at #7 would get the #6 slot.  In SF Again.  That would be great too.  Their fans would get another preview for their 2011 regular season experience.
