oops (recruiting) - yvonne - 01-14-2012

Stanford schedules a football coaches v. players game (i.e. recruiting event) during halftime of the men's basketball game -- which is at the same time as the 1st 49er playoff game in eons!

Re: oops (recruiting) - Rando - 01-14-2012

Yeah not too bright considering I'm sure a lot of the recruits want to watch the playoffs and many of them could be 49ers fans.

Re: oops (recruiting) - terry - 01-15-2012

I see no reason to assume that the football recruits were 49ers fans. Only 3 of the 15 disclosed visitors this weekend are from California, and none are from the Bay Area.

The football program has a limited time to make an impression on the recruits. The recruits have only one full day on campus -- Saturday. Letting them watch TV for 4 hours on Saturday afternoon would be a questionable use of time, in my view.

Wow, you guys are taking this much more seriously than I intended. It's an "oops" as in spilled milk, not a "whoa," as in disaster. Besides, the basketball team won in a rout, which is always fun for young spectators. In addition, based on Jontrey Tillman's tweets, I would say the prospects did get to see the end of the game.
