Alabama is watching - and may be raiding - Leftcoast - 01-16-2012

According to Kevin Gemmel of the ESPN blog, Alabama has asked for permission to discuss their open OC position with Pep Hamilton.  That's the type of flattery we DON'T need.

Hopefully Gemmel's right when he suggests their real target is the UW OC.  How strong are Pep's ties to the West coast?

If I was in that profession I would probably want to leverage my Luck success too.

I saw a top assistant salary slideshow a few weeks back on a national sports webpage, and the best in the SEC pay well for coordinators.  If I recall correctly several of the Bama, LSU and Florida coordinators were making $500,000+.  The highest paid were making more than lower level BCS AQ conference head coaches.

Well, on the other hand... - Redrum - 01-16-2012

to get that kind of salary one must live in Alabama.  OTOH,  your family can actually afford a house that goes for $1 million in Palo Alto on an assistant coach's salary.  OTOH,  one has to work for Nick Saban.    OTOH,  one can leverage working for Nick Saban into a HC job, which is just what the last Alabama OC did.  OTOH,  there is no such thing as a "bad game" allowed...or if it does happen, it had better be on the other side of the LOS.  OTOH,  it is life in all its aspects-- going to the grocery store to playing golf to watching TV-- completely immersed in what you do for a living.

All you gotta do is just pick your path to fulfillment.

But TO what is ESPN conforming? - Redrum - 01-16-2012

Just doing some linguistic housekeeping.  Cowboy Indian has the day off.
