There may be a 59er waiting to succumb to misery.

I imagine this helps with Aziz Shittu, though who knows.

Wow...interesting. They (UW) just lost their O and D coordinators, too. Lots of turnover in Seattle...not to mention a new stadium.

Yeah, UW really got out the checkbook for their staff remodeling. Wilcox, the new UW coordinator, is one of those media-anointed up-and-coming stars; Lupoi's reputation has been made on the West Coast...
Not sure the o-coordinator loss is a brobdingnagian one. Sarkisian does the heavy lifting there, I'd imagine.

Doomsday on Bear Insider - Redrum - 01-16-2012
Tosh Lupoi is da Berz , WAS da Berz demon recruiter. The man had the gift of relating and recruiting, and as a former DL had cred. Now headed for a similar position (more money though) at UDub. Bring a bucket to sop up the blood from the mass suicide on Bear Insider.  They are already handicapping the decommit odds. Their star recruit Shaq Thompson tweeting he is reconsidering.
There could be short term gain in this with Azziz Shittu and Arizona safety Zach Hoffpuir. (maybe. He took his official to Stanford this weekend but was giving off still-committed signals prior to the Lupoi defection. OTOH, in the long run, I'd have rather seen him going out of conference. Arguably this strengthens UDub's defense. Also long run; what kind of black eye is it for the program and for the UC system's highest paid employee that maybe his biggest asset left his alma mater-- a lateral move, not a promotion-- to play for a rival?Â

Redrum, I was thinking the exact same thing. Good he's heading up north (and could help us this year with Shittu and maybe a de-commit or two), but it would've been better if he'd headed out of the conference. Washington looked to be heading back to their old position of power with the hiring of Sarkisian; this could be just what they needed to push all the way back.

Cheers the above comments.
Not particularly sanguine about Lupoi not only staying in conference, but in division. SEC writers were grudgingly gracious in their assessment of auslanders Wilcox & Sirmon's work @ TN. Lupoi has unquestionably kicked ass the last couple of years. Huskies are indeed taking that future TV money and going fast track for the front.
Short term decommits / transfers will be a fun game over the next 2 weeks. In addition to the guys mentioned above, 5* DT McCarthy may go U$C, Oregon, or follow Tosh to UW. Thompson may stay since: not DL; there are several guys from his HS already on the roster; close to home.
Is there such a thing as halb - Schadenfreude?

I don't know that anyone on this board has been noticing, but U-Dub had been losing some of their recruits to UCLA after Mora took over and hired away the DB coach, who had been a key recruiter for Sarkisian. Now Sark responds by poaching Lupoi, who will no doubt bring along some of his recruits from School near Oakland. This is verrry interesting, and as everyone had noted, shoud put us in good position with Shittu. Also, I would think if Kaumatule gets admitted that School near Oakland will not be as much of a threat with Lupoi gone.
the UC system's highest paid employee has had trouble fielding a really quality team in the last few years, even while being propped up by the recruiting skills of Lupoi, and he rates as one of the best recruiters in the country. He better nab another ace recruiter from someone else.
Q: does this effect Matt Cochran and his thinking about Stanford? My sense is the ship may have sailed for him at Stanford, with all of the high quality linemen already committed or (fingers crossed) commiting in the next couple of weeks. Don't know how serious Cochran was about us anyway.
