WBB: Who is coming next year? - 81alum - 01-22-2012
I'm a bit confused about next year's recruiting class, and wonder if it is completely set yet. As I understand it, we have 15 scholarships. Looking at the current roster, Grace Mashore, Lindy LaRocque, and Nneka Ogwumike will complete their eligibility, giving us 3 scholarships for next year. Sarah Boothe redshirted one year so I presume that she will continue to draw her scholarship for another year--assuming the program wants her back--which means we will have 3 rather than 4 scholarships available.
In perusing the online recruiting sites I find mention made of only two incoming players. Alyson Beebe (6-3, 5-star) out of southern California has signed and is widely hailed as one of the best high school posts. However, she tore her ACL in May of last year and is missing her senior year after reconstructive surgery. It seems that a lot of Stanford's efforts this year were focused on her. She may not be able to replace Nneka, but hopes are clearly high for her.
Tess Picknell from southern Oregon (6-5, 4-star) is apparently a powerful defender and a shot-blocking machine in high school. She has also had a recent injury, but it seems minor, and is playing this season.Â
Beyond these two, I have not found mention of anyone else. Are we going to use our third scholarship?Â

On the Bootie, Bobbk said we are saving a scholarship for the class of 2013, where there are a lot of great prospects.
