Bryce Treggs to...NOT CAL. Interestingly seems to be going to a school in southern California. SC just offered--maybe them? If so, what kind of space does SC have?

Holy Cow! That's a stunner!

Yup. Somehow they lost out on not one but two legacy mega-recruits. End of the T.edford regime right here.

T.edford always seemed like a great offensive coordinator as head coach, but not necessarily a great head coach. The dramatic turn after losing the assistant coach to UW seems it inevitably will bring some fallout.

How sure are we that Treggs jumped ship?

He didn't sign with Kal....said he'd sign this afternoon and "it's in Southern California".

Since USC just landed the #6 WR in the country, I'm wondering if Treggs is more likely headed to UCLA

From one of the LA Times writers: "UCLA has 68 players currently on scholarship. If Bruins sign all 26 recruits, they will be 10 over the 85 limit."

Just got back from a meeting. He hasn't tweeted that he isn't going to Cal. Where are you getting this?

That said, haven't seen the report gain wide mainstream currency, so perhaps it was erroneous. We will see.

The attrition to Berkeley's recruiting class has been severe. Assuming Treggs ends up at one of the southern California schools, as has been reported, I think Berkeley's situation looks like this --
Decommits after Lupoi's departure (with Scout star rating and position rank):
<img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /> Shaquille Thompson, # 1 S (Washington)
<img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /> Ellis McCarthy, # 2 DT (UCLA)
<img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /> Bryce Treggs, # 5 WR (UCLA or U.S.C.)
<img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /> Jordan Payton, # 15 WR (UCLA)
<img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /> Zach Hoffpauir, # 32 S (Stanford)
<img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /> Kenny Walker, # 38 RB (UCLA)
Reportedly leaning to Berkeley before Lupoi's departure, but lost:
<img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /> Arik Armstead, # 1 OT (Oregon)
And reportedly a silent commit to Berkeley before Lupoi's departure, but now undecided:
<img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /><img src="http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/star.gif" /> Aziz Shittu, # 14 DT (?)

Treggs is signing with California. I don't know where all this stuff about him de-committing is coming from today.

Treggs still hasn't signed -- anywhere.

Same source that knew Shittu to farm guaranteed Treggs. He's just being a drama queen like the rest. Will be official at 5:30 PT announcement.

SC got to their 15 ceiling with some last minute commits. So they probably were ready to only accept those commits once they knew Treggs was not going to SC.
In some weird way I hope he does go to C....a....l. UCLA might actually become good with their new situation, and Treggs could be great there. SC seems to do wonders with WRs, and has just enough talent to be dangerous.
So given the apparent list of options, I feel best about Treggs going to C...a...l

Looks like 6 (depending what recruiting site you check) Pac-12 teams are in the top 25 recruiting rankings -- Stanford, USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington and Cal. Nice to see the conference do well.

I don't think those guys across the Bay are even close to top 25. They may be in triple digits if Treggs doesn't sign up pretty quickly.

Rivals currently has them ranked #25 (though Scout has them at #42).

I don't think it's so nice. Why would we want to see our competition recruit well? I'm especially worried about UW's surge.
I'm only interested in Stanford doing well.
