Talk about the most split personality team ever. Whip Colorado? Lose to the now 6-22 Utah Utes.

I was naive enough to almost put this one "in the bag" and think more kindly of Dawkins after a 20-win season. Not tonight.

I am really tired of the team underperforming. At some point, that's gotta' be on the coach. Feel sorry for the players. Time to take the program in a new direction.

The box score is a weird one in terms of minutes played.

Huestis...with 10 minutes.
Mann...with 15.
Nastic chipped in with 16 minutes. Is that the most significant time he's gotten all season?

Nastic logged 19 minutes against Cal last month.

Today in Johnny Dawkins quotes:

Quote:"Some of it has to do with youth and the inconsistency of youth. Our backcourt is a freshman (Randle) and a sophomore (Anthony Brown). The experience is not there and it shows."

Then why, as these players have gained more experience over the course of the year, has the team looked progressively more mediocre? And why does the Pac-12 conference leader--UW--also start a sophomore and freshman in its backcourt?

Duke's little gift keeps on giving.  They get to rule out one potential Coach K successor without taking any risk or suffering any damage.

Bowlsby had the good sense to fire an obvious disaster of a coach.  Now playing at Level 2,  can Bowlsby see slow-mo creeping rot of mediocrity and move to correct it?

IF we lose to UCB and then lose in the first game of the Pac12 tourney the calls for the end of Dawkins Stanford tenure will be coming in from many.  If he wins one of those two games, then I think he likely gets another year.  Miss the tournament next year and the trigger must be pulled imho.  He will have had five years as our HC at that point.

I'm not close enough to know, but it doesn't seem like he's getting much help from any of his assistants.  Benedict Monty always had some very strong assistants with him that have gone on to do good things.  I'll hope the team that plays the Buffs shows up to crush UCB and then roll through the tourney, but I'm not holding my breath!
