Lehigh defensive coordinator Dave Kotulski. No, I've never heard of him either.

I haven't heard of him either, but judging from his resume, it looks like he has had a lot of success wherever he has been (albeit on the smaller school level).  Also has a lot of experience as a defensive coordinator, and I'm wondering if adding him to the staff is in part a backstop in case Mason, at some point, gets hired away to a Head Coaching position.  That doesn't seem to be likely this year, but another great Cardinal defense next season, coupled with Mason's growing reputation as a recruiter, and his name will certainly start getting on a lot of short lists for head coaching positions.

Here's an encouraging 9-year old article on him (a must-read for junkies)...

Last year Lehigh lost to eventual winner of Division I North Dakota St in quarterfinals. (North Dakota St had a win over Minnesota last year.)

Maybe .... but I'm considering if we will miss Coach Harbaugh's NFL pipeline.  I wonder if Shaw is more comfortable with college background coaches?

Re: Per Football Scoop, ILB coach hired - washingtonismoney - 03-01-2012

Don't think that's the case. Shaw's hires so far: Tarver, Bloomgren, Sanford, Alamar, Kotulski (assuming that Scoop is correct). That's 40% primarily NFL guys and 60% college guys. That seems like a fine balance to me--in fact, I think I'd prefer more college guys than NFL guys. We're in the Pac-12, not the NFC West.

Kotulski was on the same coaching staff at Bucknell with Lance Anderson and Derek Mason. He also coached with Anderson at Utah State.

seems focused on pressure & turnovers--a good thing
