Re: The Official Like Vic Chao's IMDB Page Campaign - GoodGrief - 03-01-2012

You're awesome, Yvonne, thank you!

Just an fyi, the reason why this matters is because every visit to my IMDB page increases my IMDB STARmeter ranking. The IMDB STARmeter ranking is an important casting consideration because it indicates how much of a fan base you have. As an example, Brad Pitt's STARmeter ranking is 4, Octavia Spencer's is currently at 292 (but will jump considerably once the clicks from her Oscar win register), and mine is currently 16,122.

Getting to audition or getting cast for a "big break" role can very much depend on your IMDB STARmeter; fame is a powerful card that frequently trumps all other factors. Sometimes it feels like a Board of Directors tells you, "You'd be great for the CEO position, but unfortunately, you're not a millionaire." And you say, "But if you make me the CEO, I would be a millionaire!" And they say, "That's not how it works."

This is coming at a good time right now because tomorrow I have a producers session for a series regular role on a great sitcom. We'll see how it goes!

Anyway, since I am quite poor at publicizing myself, I really appreciate Yvonne putting this up on the Cardboard. Hmm...maybe Toby Gerhart should start the Vic Chao IMDB Grass Roots Campaign...

I'm not on Facebook because it clashes with my tin foil hat conspiracy theories, but my wife is on and she liked you for us.

Cheers,

Mini Biography

Vic graduated from Stanford University in Mechanical Engineering. He used to develop medical devices but quit because engineering is mind-bogglingly dull. Once he became an actor, Vic's co-workers suddenly became much better looking.

He is originally from Chicago and worked a stint as Da Bull, the mascot for the Chicago Bulls. Once he became an NBA mascot, his co-workers suddenly became significantly taller and ridiculously richer.

Vic is an avid gymnast and was a cheerleader at Stanford. He also does martial arts, is a fountain of useless trivia, and has an uncanny memories for old commercial jingles.

He should probably take his bios a little more seriously.

IMDb Mini Biography By: Vic Chao

Trivia

Competed on American Gladiators. Did well on The Wall and Assault. Got crushed in Powerball.

Was a mascot for the Chicago Bulls, and a mini-trampoline slam dunker for the LA Clippers.

As an experiment, once existed only on items from the 99 Cents store for a week.

Graduated from Stanford University in Mechanical Engineering

Does martial arts, is a fountain of useless trivia, and has an uncanny memories for old commercial jingles.

Re: The Official Like Vic Chao's IMDB Page Campaign - Leftcoast - 03-02-2012

But I ask you, could a Dolly do backflips from baseline to baseline across Maples floor like Vic used to do?  And still lead a "Go" -> "Stanford" yell?  Short skirts and perky noses are so overrated.

(My wife approved this message - you know, the one who long ago banned binoculars at Stanford games with Dollies in attendance.)

Re: The Official Like Vic Chao's IMDB Page Campaign - fullmetal - 03-02-2012

Dollies didn't get Toby to the cusp of Voldemort greatness!

Re: The Official Like Vic Chao's IMDB Page Campaign - GoodGrief - 03-02-2012

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate it. It's really encouraging to be around you guys. Wish the entire entertainment industry was composed of Stanford Cardinal fans!

Re: The Official Like Vic Chao's IMDB Page Campaign - fullmetal - 03-02-2012

Boy the entertainment industry would be, ah, very different if Stanford fans ran the show.  We might rid ourselves of the reality tv scourge...
