MBB HT: Stanford 39 Cal 34 - washingtonismoney - 03-04-2012

The Johnny Dawkins era in a nutshell: go up by 15 against your rival, with its best player out to foul trouble? Pfft. Up by 5 (and should've been up by three). Also, today in mysteriously bad lineups--the starting lineup roulette today featured Randle, Mann, Brown, Zimmerman and Owens, which if you're keeping track at home features two players who couldn't score on a kid's rim in the backyard. We also saw a mysteriously big large dose of Stefan Nastic, who looks, well, too slow.

Still, a great effort from Randle (12 pts) and Zimmerman (10) who are essentially carrying the team offensively.

Early in the second half, it's really fun to watch Gutierrez be able to play a one-man zone fronting Josh Owens because he's "guarding" Jarrett Mann.

I guess this is what they mean when they say Mann is "good on defense."

nice win in the end.  cal ended up shooting themselves in the paw at the FT line and by failing to box out at the other end on FTs.Â
