Miller gets it squarely in the crosshairs - Redrum - 08-11-2010

We won\'t learn much about the Thomas\' and Keiser\'s transition to LB until we play UCLA.   If I were game planning for the Bruins,  I\'d be putting in lots of pass plays where Thomas/Keiser have to cover in space.   I think they\'ll be better against the run but just because a guy is fast off the edge in a (basically) straight line to the QB doesn\'t mean
it translates into moves to stick with receivers.  Will Powers last year struggled when he wasn\'t pass rushing.

Good Miller piece if only because it goes beyond the preseason "analysis" norm: listing of names and little else.

Add:  3-4 piece is good, too.  If you read the two together it makes it much clearer the challenges that Stanford faces.  Our 3 DL have a very large challenge to keep opposing OL off our linebackers.   Not much room for injuries or even giving guys a rest during the game.
Long drives like we saw last year will kill us as the game goes on.  Not much starter-quality help on the bench.

Given Kevin Prince\'s abilities, I\'m actually not worried about UCLA. Sign me up for Oregon-at-Autzen pessimism.

More about Stanford\'s switch to the 3-4.
