Today in David Shaw Quotables -

James Vaughters can apparently play five positions on defense (

OLB, ILB, DE....? Where are the last two? Which positions count twice?
And that's today in reading too much into stray comments from closed practices.

SS, FS, DE, OLB, ILB? If he's fast enough to play safety...

my guess on the 5 positions:Â all 4 LB (Sam, Mike, Will and Jack) spots and 1 DE spot (or 3 LB -- Sam, Mike and Will -- and 2 DE spots)

For another edition of "Today in David Shaw Quotables," we'll turn to Kyle Bonagura's reporting of the post-practice media availability, in which Shaw says:
"The battle for playing time at the outside linebacker position is going to be fun to watch, coach David Shaw said. Kevin Anderson, who redshirted last season, will be a player to watch."

(There are some other rapid reports worth reading too).
Anyway, if Anderson's a player to watch, and Murphy and Thomas are set, then there's not a lot of room left on the field, especially when you account for Vaughters, Lueders and Debniak. Is it possible Noor Davis redshirts next season?

I like "[Taylor] knows in his heart he's as good as any running back in the nation."

Kevin Anderson is someone who's "been driving our offense crazy for a year."

ADD:
David Shaw will find a place for Ricky Seale on the field, "the way he's running the ball."

(ED NOTE: Can you say running back glut?)
