ESPN Mag Player Poll -
Leftcoast - 08-18-2010
ESPN, The Mag, just published a "Football Confidential" player poll in which they asked players from each conference some interesting questions.
For the Pac 10, Harbaugh was chosen as the coach Pac 10 players would most like to play for and Stanford was picked to win the Pac 10 by 44% of the players. Jake Locker was named the best player in the conference and came up second (behind Mark Ingram) nationally. High praise from the guys who face him on the field.
Nice to hear the confirmation that Coach Harbaugh has made such a big splash among players, Stanford now has a coach that players WANT to play for and we can see the results in Stanford\'s last two recruiting classes.
On a minor note, Oregon ranked #1 nationally for best uniforms (ugh) proving that Nike designs and the accompanying PR are worth something - even if I hate them myself.
One final Pac 10 tie-in - Guess which Southern Cal juggernaut has the coach players would LEAST like to play for - not just in the Pac 10 but also nationally? Poor Lane Kiffen and poor, poor USC.
Yeah .... I\'m trying hard not to snicker out loud as I write that.
One warning - It\'s not clear how many players from the Pac 10 were polled but it\'s probably a pretty small number since they only included 135 players nationally.
The full article is only available to ESPN insiders so I\'m linking Ted Miller\'s Pac 10 summary and a public article covering the player\'s responses when asked about an NCAA Playoff. That last piece is worth a read for it\'s ambiguous results.

Sorry but I can\'t agree the Oregon unis are "worth something." Â This is a generational gap. Â Just like the younger generation\'s obsession to make their dominate uniform color black regardless of the school\'s actual colors, the lack of taste that produced the Oregon unis will pass. Â By any objective measure, those ensembles are the worst unis ever to see the light of day; the only real question is which one of the multitude of god-awful uniform combinations deserves recognition as the absolute worst ever.
