"This is the first time in seven seasons that a Thom Glielmi coached team finished lower than third. Still, with all his gymnasts returning or another season in 2013, the Cardinal will look to contend for another national title."

Stanford was missing one gymnast due to injury. I'm not sure how much difference it would have made.
I believe there will be several ex-Stanford gymnasts at the Olympic Trials in San Jose this summer. My son and I will be there to watch.

I'm happy for the Illinois guys. I watched a bit of the competition on line yesterday and it looked like Oklahoma was going to totally dominate. It seemed a bit unfair given the home field advantage they enjoyed. After four rotations, the commentators were saying the 2 pt advantage by Oklahoma would be very difficult to overcome. Sounds like the Illinois gymnasts stepped up on a big state.

Penev won 2 individual tiles today - vault and floor. No one else on the team is really at that level. Hope we see some guys step up next year.Â
I wonder what the NCAA training rules are for gymnastics in the off season. It's not the kind of sport where you can take much time off. My son just took one week off after finishing the season. He'll be back in the gym on Monday.
