looks like he won't miss the entire season but they are planning on him not being ready to start the season. Good thing we have Hewitt, P. Skov, and Ward.

I believe Meinken's case fits the 6th year injury redshirt criteria. Might be a conundrum to play for only a few games in the season vs. a redshirt and another full season. There are worse things than hanging around at Stanford with paid tuition.

I agree, plus I think P. Skov is going to be a very good FB. And Lee Ward is no slouch.

Hate to sound cruel, but my guess is that there will not be space on the roster for a 6th year.
So even if health eliminated the full 2012 season, my guess is that 2013 would not be an option.

His 6th year will be 2014 so Meinken will be back next year for sure.

I've seen a few other comments over the past year similar to this. Why are people so high on Patrick Skov? Is it just the bloodlines, or are people seeing something in practices that shows high potential? Or is it just video from his high school career? I've seen very little in the press about him from Spring practice or the the Spring game. So I was assuming he hasn't emerged as a significant factor on either side of the ball.

he's still recovering from a broken leg so he sat out spring practice. But his HS tape is impressive, plus he was running a 4.55-4.6 40 and benching more than most of the top OG/OT's his class. He's ending up at FB because he doesn't have Shayne's lateral speed/quickness, but you don't need that at FB since you're not having to change direction like a LB does. I see him being the next Marecic. Dude will be a beast.

Patrick Skov is still recovering from his leg injury. I hope he can be available by the beginning of fall camp.
