This is an interesting quote:
A Pac-12 official said this about Stanford before the Fiesta Bowl: I feel like Andrew Luck has a tendency -- and I want to be careful how I say this -- to kind of disconnect from the game a little. It's not that he doesn't care. There are just times when you feel like he's fully focused and times when he's not.
That's funny. I've always felt -- and I want to be careful how I say this -- that most Pac-12 officials have a tendency to be entirely disconnected from reality pretty much all of the time...
BTW, I'd take a "disconnected" Luck over pretty much any other QB I've seen...

Um... aren't all human beings that way? Even top professional athletes aren't 100% focused 100% of the time. Is Luck now held to a super-human standard?

Is this a Pac-12 like, say, Larry Scott...or one of our 100 clowns in a Volkswagen refs?

This is absolutely ridiculous. An official is going out of his way to criticize a player? In thirty plus years of paying attention to sports -- probably paying much more attention than is healthy -- I can't remember an official publicly criticizing a player like this. There are certain lines that should not be crossed, and this is one of them. Reading through the article, the comments appear snarky and immature at best, and it wouldn't be hard for a team to read bias into them. What business is it of an official if Michigan's defense is poor, if LSU's is confused, or if -- and this is the best -- the best quarterback in the land "disconnect(s)" from the game? How exactly is this disconnection measured? If I were in charge, these officials would be found and fired. No questions asked.

The linked article is about game officials, i.e., refs.

Luck went 27 of 31 for 347 yards in the Fiesta Bowl. I guess maybe if he was "connected" he would have gone 31 for 31?

Having considered it a little more, I suppose it IS possible that this Pac-12 official ref'd a game late this season where, upon breaking the huddle after calling a Spyder 3 Y Banana for the 582d time, Luck thought to himself for a split second, while gazing skyward, "Hmmm...what if we ran a Spyder FOUR Y Banana?", whereupon he probably "re-connected" and hit the fullback for a gain of 18 yards and a first down...
