Yesterday in opponent attrition (59ers gonna 59er) -

Important depth player/possible starter/former four-star recruit Cecil Whiteside booted unceremoniously off of the team:

Insofar as optimism--yes, dear readers, some are optimistic about the chances that the 59ers will stop 59ering for the first time since '59, as improbable as that seems--rested on the idea that C.al was going to enjoy a demographic dividend from all those highly-recruited defensive players maturing simultaneously, that's a blow. And with Kendricks and Holt leaving, there's not a ton of obvious depth or quality.
Basically, 59ering.

Hope Whiteside puts his head on straight and uses his talents to get his education.

Quote:Whiteside, who would have been a sophomore in 2012, came out of spring practice listed as a backup at outside linebacker. He signed with C.a.l in 2010 as a highly regarded recruit out of Newport Beach but was not able to enroll right away because of academic issues.
Story says he "would have been a sophomore" -- he's still a sophomore unless he's leaving school as well. If Tedford pulled his scholarship, he's probably done with school. He had "academic issues" before he arrived in Berkeley.

yeah he sat out his freshman year because he wasn't admitted I believe. He either got kicked out of school for grades or did something to warrant getting kicked out of school IMO. He wasn't even starting anymore which I thought was weird but maybe he was demoted during spring practice because the writing was on the wall.
"Unceremoniously" kicked off the team. Hmmmmm - Redrum - 05-25-2012
Does Kal
usually have a ceremony when someone is kicked off the team? If so, Whiteside must be really pissed. Probably feels he deserves-- at very least-- a
ceremony. I know I would.
