If you plan to travel to Tallahassee - nolemanb - 06-04-2012

If you plan to travel to Tallahassee for the games, here are a few recommendations:

Hotels: Hotel Duval, Aloft, Double Tree and the Marriott off of Gaines Street - In that order. All hotels are in walking distance to downtown and a minute’s drive to the stadium.

Food: Marie Livingston’s and Shulas (in hotel Duval) are the best steak places in town IMO). Best sushi would be MASA. Best Italian would be Bella Bella, Best Pizz would be Decent Pizza or Momo's. Other great places to eat in town would be: Kool Beanz (midtown), Avenue (downtown), Andrews (downtown), Piggy’s or Jim and Milts for BBQ, Mockingbird, Bagel Bagel, Mosaic, Cypress etc…

Night life: If you want the college scene (remember the students are out of town for the summer ? which also stinks because many students won’t be at this coming weekends games), head to Tennessee Street ? AJ sports bar is the best sports bar in town. Other bars on Tennessee Street: Y’ianni’s, Bullwinkle’s, Kens, in-between, etc. or Pot Bellys just up the street. If you want the post 23 and up crowd, definitely head to midtown. Bars are all in walking distances to one another with shops and restaurants. For downtown bars, head to One-O-One, Level 8 (roof top bar at Hotel Duval), Clydes and Andrews.

Also, as a heads up for the fans who do not know this tradition, our fans sing O’Canada in the bottom half of the 5th inning each game. This is a tradition, not anti-American. I’m sure it is very strange seeing for the first time. There’s a story behind it, there are many different versions, but the most accurate can be found by going to www.sectionb.com. You will also become very familiar with the “Fans of section B” who lead the fans in 99% of cheers etc.

Bonefish Grill on Thomasville Road is a good seafood place.

If you're into Indian food Curry Pot on Thomasville Road is also good.

Be forewarned, though, you don't come to Tallahassee for the food.

further up the Thomasville Road in Thomasville, are Jonah's and Liam's still open?

I believe they are still alive and cooking (pun intended), although I don't get up to Thomasville much.

Re: If you plan to travel to Tallahassee - slide - 06-06-2012

thanks.

good HS football, Glen Arven's member guest and quail hunting are the magnets I recall about Thomasville.  hard to believe Thomasville used to be a PGA tour stop.

......you're going to meet some crazy drivers there.

Motorists in Tallahassee take traffic laws in general and traffic lights specifically as suggestions rather than commands.

Per espn360.com, all three games are on the espn2 and espn3 schedules.
