good piece on the Madsen hire - slide - 06-07-2012

from Yahoo.  I still love the clips of the Stanford-Rhode Island game.

That was a really good piece - Redrum - 06-08-2012

Hard not to fall in love with Madsen all over again.

Now, back to business.  Dawkins should be fired for hiring such an inexperienced coach for his staff.  Should have let him get seasoning around the Div. III circuit and maybe waited until he'd coached in a major conference,  then hired Madsen.  This whole Dawkins regime just gets worse and worse.

I think it's a perfectly reasonable hire. There are a number of former players who ascended to NBA assistant coaching jobs. M.ontgomery has Son of M.ontgomery on his current coaching staff.

There's really no reason to dislike Dawkins based on this. There's plenty of reason based on his other stuff. And, frankly, I'll bet he knows it--with no March Madnesses and a new AD, Dawkins probably has to produce results immediately.

Ahh. A satisfying result - Redrum - 06-08-2012

In a very short time.  My work here is done for the day.

It sounded to me from reading the article that Madsen will be a grad assistant coach.  I don't see why anyone would take issue with this.

OutsiderFan - Madsen was reported as the replacement for Dick Davey who had been a basketball coach for about 45 years and seemed to help Dawkins a lot with in-game adjustments and game strategy.  Don't know how much Madsen will contribute in those areas.
