Saw it in the paper paper and can't find it on-line, possibly because I'm not a digitial subscriber, but maybe somebody here can come up with a link.

players who do that are dick heads IMO. He's already got a bunch of his buddies going to Clemson and this other kid probably isn't Clemson material considering his offer list. Reminds me of when the University of South Central offered Master P's kid to land 5 star SG Demar DeRozan. I think they got rid of the kid after DeRozan left for the NBA after one year.

Cal also did this by allowing their current QB to transfer in so they could get 5 star WR Keenan Allen. That's actually worked out quite well for them.

Andy Staples from SI wrote about this story last week.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/andy_staples/07/06/robert-nkemdiche-clemson-scholarship-demand/index.html

He applauds Nkemdiche's power play given that he becomes an indentured servant (excuse me, student-athlete) once he signs a LoI.

Quote: Nkemdiche is using all the leverage he can within NCAA rules before he signs the National Letter of Intent, which might be the worst contract in sports. Once Nkemdiche signs, he loses every bit of leverage. A school doesn't even have to guarantee his scholarship once he signs. Once he enrolls, he'll be subject to transfer rules. He'll also be subject to rules that restrict how much he can make at an off-campus job. But now? He can ask for the moon -- at least for others. . . . No matter what the NCAA wants you to believe, this is a contract negotiation. And bless Nkemdiche for using all the juice he has before it runs dry.
