Interesting stadium tidbits -

I was able to take a stadium tour and learned some odds & ends:
- The first row in the second deck is the same distance from the field as the first row of the old stadium
- Riot gear is stored on the second deck of the stadium in case it should ever become necessary
- Plans are underway to replace the scoreboards with high def scoreboards. After that, stadium encircling signage will be added.
- Although artificial turf has advanced, it remains denser than natural grass, and is 15 degrees warmer
- The home locker room has an air conditioner. The visitors' does not.
- John Arrillaga's box is at the bottom level on the far left of the press box (when looking at the press box). Bernard Muir will sit in the box completely opposite.
- Oregon State brings the largest contingent of radio stations with it.

I was hoping to take the tour but went to the Women's Volleyball BBQ meet and greet (which was really a lot of fun).
Were those really the highlights? Was the tour worthwhile?

Those weren't the highlights. The highlight was probably the locker room, which wasn't that big a deal. We didn't get to see the real locker rooms in Arrillaga. I think the tour was more for people who hadn't been to the stadium much.

I am confused. Is it real grass or fake/synthetic grass? Or is it some kind of mix? What other schools are using what we use now. Â

It's real grass. I was on it today and it looks pretty good.

If "signage" means advertising, I'm really bummed.

We have grass. The decision was made to stay with grass because it is cooler and more resilient than artificial turf.

I was thinking along the lines of expanding the ribbon boards around the stadium, which I guess would still have advertising, but could mean individual stats and stuff, which would be really nice.

It is the ribbon boards; I just didn't know what it was called. These will be all electronic.
