Must.  Look At. Schedule.

Re: I conclude the Pac-12 Network... - FarmBoy - 08-31-2012

I further conclude that their camera operators are blind. At least three times the camera has not included the area of the field where the ball was thrown, so the reception was missed. They've also failed to cut back to the game action while showing sideline reporters or replays in time to see the live play.

And one of the commentators referred to the Stanford Cardinals.

It's a bit of an amateur hour.

And that "Final" sign on a yellow background for the scores at the bottom is really annoying. I keep thinking a flag was thrown.

I totally agree.

And the continued stream of C.al commercials during a Stanford game. Do I really need to hear Aaron Rogers talk about how U.CB is the envy of the conference every game break?

Re: I conclude the Pac-12 Network... - oman - 08-31-2012

Good lord you guys are whiners.  I just got to watch the kind of preseason game I've never been able to watch back here in the hustings.

I'm happy as a clam, and all those shots of the bay area -- yes, even the USeeBerk campus -- is like a cool pacific breeze in godforsaken Dallas.

I love the damn network.

Well, it's not our fault that you decided to live in Terminus City or wherever it is that you are.

Some of us are fuming over having to watch games on a teeny window after getting used to a couple of years of watching every single game on a real TV network.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was talking about.

Ah, fuming.  Well that's okay then.

Did anyone besides me think the announcers looked like Simon Bar-Sinister and Cad?
;D

Re: I conclude the Pac-12 Network... - Hank 91 - 09-01-2012

Totally agree about the yellow "FINAL" in the corner. It absolutely freaked me out. Specifically, I was pissed when it popped up during Taylor's 38-yard run in the first possession. I couldn't figure why the announcers weren't mentioning the flag, and I wondered why the players were still celebrating. Worse still, I didn't even figure out it was that was fooling me until the second half. This isn't whining, just irritation.

Oh, and the only reason I was able to watch is because I'm visiting my parents in pleasant Pleasanton, CA. Talk to me next week when I'm back at home under the DirecTV umbrella. Then you'll hear some whining.

Re: I conclude the Pac-12 Network... - oman - 09-01-2012

I am sorry I used the term whining.  I tend to post as if we are all sitting around in a dorm hallway drinking beer, and people can see through my words and see that I am joking/teasing.  It's lazy but I tend to get lazy when I am off work.

Last year was odd in terms of the ability to watch all the games.  So my expectations were that I would not get to see these early games.  I assumed that most people who could not get tickets to the game would have the same issues.

My assumption about any network, Pac12 or otherwise, would be that there would be a time period of transition where people wouldn't have access.  Hence my half full sentiment -- it's easier to be okay with half full when you actually are drinking from the half full glass.

I wish everyone the best in terms of their ability to have access to Stanford football this year.  To the extent it doesn't exacerbate your ulcer issues.

I love how Aaron Rodgers doesn't even have his name captioned during his Pac-12 promo clip--just "Cal All-Star."

Well, it seems you will have a chance to authenticate as a Comcast subscriber and watch online if your own family will just share some passwords with you.  ;D

The final in yellow is an easy fix.  I can't imagine they will use that after fans provide feedback.  I was not passionately watching the SDSU v UW game, so that yellow kept catching my attention.  It was very annoying.  If I cared about the teams on the screen that final thing would have been annoying enough for me to put a piece of paper on the bottom of my TV screen.

Despite the possible technical improvements and lack of sponsors, my guess is the Pac-12 network is more concerned about the lack of football depth beyond USC and Oregon.  Oh, and the latest reports coming out of LA that suggest that SC might have had a reason to question that one booster's integrity.  Major violations in both football and basketball while both programs were on probation could be a big problem for USC and the attempt to get the Pac-12 networks out to a wider audience.

I have noticed this weekend that online replays of the games are not available.  That seems odd to me.  As a season ticket holder it will never be possible to watch every game on the Pac-12 network live each Saturday.  My hope would be to be able to get home and stream the other contests late on Saturday or early on Sunday.  It is one of the great benefits of the ESPN broadcasts, and I hope the Pac-12 will give that option.

No big complaints yet, and with Cox authentication the online streaming of so much Stanford content is a lot of fun.

Next week I will be in Europe on the weekend, so I am quite eager to see if I can watch the Duke Stanford game.  If I can stream oversees with my Cox authentication I will be ready to hail the Pac-12 network as a great fan benefit.  My guess/fear is that the streaming will be limited to the USA only.

...understaffed or digitally clueless.

How do they not have highlights up for the Stanford vs. San Jose St game? I spent 15 minutes searching their site and was able to filter by team, sport, popularity, etc, and still no highlights were available. This was a game on their network. They own the rights to the video. It's been 5 days since the game was played. They have highlights available for UofA vs. Toledo. Get a damn highlight package up for every game played on your network within an hour of the game ending.

It is curious.  The game was close and entertaining, at least for non-Stanford fans.  The challenge to find replays/rebroadcasts of almost every event is odd to me.  I know the channels all have encore broadcasts, so perhaps the lack of online replays is a sorry attempt to get people to watch the Pac-12 channels during the week.

Whatever...On to my true Pac-12 Network love because I am able to watch the channels internationally.  AMAZING.  Most other broadcast content gets blocked once you leave the USA.  The idea that I could watch the Pac-12 networks oversees is awesome.  Of course, one needs to autheticate with a USA cable provider at the moment, but access is access. This love may get challenged now that I am converting to DirecTV, but for now I love the idea that the Pac-12 networks are really global.

Re: I conclude the Pac-12 Network... - washingtonismoney - 09-05-2012

What Pac-12 networks does well is really cool and different. Compressing entire games (minus, like, boring kickoffs) into 60 minutes is just awesome. On the other hand, some of their blind spots are really weird--besides the highlights issue, they also don't have a TV grid anywhere that I can find.

That's odd, because the commercials during the game kept hammering that they have the programming grid to end all programming grids. It was a tongue in cheek commercial with very dramatic music showing how comprehensive it was. Kind of funny, but I was ready to kill myself by the time I heard it for the 20th time.

They've got a game schedule, which shows what games are being played when, but that's different than a programming grid, which shows what they're actually broadcasting.
