So... who played well? - stan01 - 08-31-2012

Other than Usua Amanam and Jordan Williamson.

Ed Reynolds forced the fumble and had the interception at the end. I'd say he's going to be pretty good.

I liked Drew Terrell for most of the game.

I actually think the defense looked good at the end and need to build on that.  Not sure what adjustments were made but they obviously got a lot more emotionally involved.

Were there more subs in the final quarter.  A sense that everyone was going to get a chance to get a lick in?

Jordan Williamson

Zach Ertz?

Not a player, but judging from what I've heard, it would seem Pete Alamar, the special teams coach, had a solid debut. Williamson and Zychlinski played well, no snapping issues (which is good with a true freshman long snappers), no gaffes. If Polian were coaching the team and had turned in one of his regular poor performances, we might've lost the game.

Agreed!  Excellent start by frosh Reed Miller (LS).

In addition to those already mentioned, I'd say Ty Montgomery. Yes, he had that crucial drop in the 4th quarter, but aside from that he looked great. It isn't his fault the offense went away from him after his big start. (Of course, I haven't watched the film; maybe he just didn't do a good job running routes and getting open after that.)

Ertz played well.  Passes to him not crisp.

I think dropping a game-clinching TD pass is a pretty big "aside from that."

Drew Terrell had a nice game. Good TD catch, couple of solid returns.

Jarek Lancaster played well in limited duty. He replaced Vaughters for much of the 4th quarter.

Pretty impressive to arrive on campus on August 4 and earn the starting LS job.

I do not yet feel the LS duties are in solid hands.  There was at least one (and maybe 2) snaps that were noticeably low, almost bounced to the punter.  Here's hoping the long-snapping steadies and becomes machine-like (in a good way) as the season progresses.  On brighter side, I don't recall any snafus or near snafus on the FG attempt snaps.
