The truth comes out... - FarmBoy - 09-05-2012

Quote:"I knew the college near a BART station people wouldn't want to hear that from me," Brian [Treggs] said, "but at the beginning, Stanford was my No. 1 choice for Bryce. You're talking the Harvards and Yales of institutions.

Brian Treggs HAD say that - Redrum - 09-05-2012

It was part of the court-ordered settlement for his breach of contract on the public promise to move to Palo Alto if Kal lost Big Game back in the day.

Great find! He has matured and grown more wise over the years and tried to pass his life lessons on to his son. Tried.

Does anyone know of any cases where a Stanford or C.al football star's child chose to enroll, and play, at the rival?

You'll see one such kid this weekend - Redrum - 09-06-2012

Not exactly like the Treggs situation,  but  all-time favorite Stanford WR  Ed McCaffrey's kid will be suiting up for Duke if he's on the traveling team.  We had the opportunity but did not offer him a scholarship.

There's another McCaffrey in the class of 2014 who we've offered, so we may yet rectify the lack of McCaffreys on our roster.

Remember the Q&A with Andrew Luck that asked who his childhood hero was? His response was "My dad. I wanted to be like him, plain and simple."

That's how the younger Treggs felt, and as much as I fault them both for their bombast, I have to admire that relationship.
