Radio Days -

Living overseas, and with FirstRow appearing on my laptop screen as a cruel, tantalizing random slideshow, I'll be spending the season with the guys at KZSU as my main lifeline for the games.
First of all, these guys are pretty talented, they know their stuff.Â
BTW, what year did that train horn replace the air cannon for touchdowns etc? And why? The fogey in me is coming out.

Dunno when, but the horn has been around for quite a few years now.

I think it started in the mid-90s when Cal Train sponsored touchdowns. They used to do both the cannon and the train horn. Personally I like the train.

OK -- "The college near a BART Station train" ... that was one of the trickier decodings I have had to figure out on the cardboard filter... a pretty brobdingnagian effort.

estephan, you might try taking your notebook someplace where you can get a higher bandwidth connection.
The cannon was abolished because it was driving the chimps in the animal lab nuts.

Uh, yeah. It was C.A.L Train that sponsored Stanford football in the mid to late 90's. /Lefty

"not to drag this out, but is there truth in this chimpanzee thing?"
This is the story I heard. The Goodyear blimp cannot fly over the lab for the same reason. Keith Jackson mentioned this during the 82 Washington game.
Your notebook should work fine anywhere in the world if you have a high bandwidth connection.

With my move at the end of August I left Cox, and believing Wilner (I know crazy) I decided to go with DirecTV.
So I lost my ability to authenticate to the Pac-12 nets during my European trip. Ironically, I probably would have selected DISH , but again I leveraged Wilner's insights and his comment that Dish was even less likely to sign any time soon. Thankfully, Wilner was also wrong about the Stanford Duke game.
But I LOVED the less legit overseas option. No commercials meant I could watch the halftime program and listen to Coy Wire talk about having NFL guys tease him about the Tree during the breaks. It was a lot of fun.
I am sure my company will not appreciate all of the spyware and spam, but it was a decent experience and my connection was not THAT great. I definitely would do that over KZSU audio only.Â
