We\'re #28 in the Coaches Poll, and #24 in ESPN.com\'s Power Rankings.

I didn\'t see the game, so I\'m not sure of the quality of a win against a FCS school. Â Rankings are nice, but I like to fly under the radar. Â Oh well, Stanford will definitely be on everyone\'s screen against UCLA next week. Â Let\'s hope UCLA doesn\'t find a brobdingnagian kick of motivation after dropping one to K-State.

What\'d I tell ya? Win one and we\'re in the poll. If we can beat UCLA and get up into the 18-20 range, we will be well positioned for a run at a big bowl, with lots of articles about dark horse Stanford. Even if we don\'t end up winning 10 games, being in the discussion at any point this year will help us in the future. That\'s why Boise St, after years and years of being good, is finally ranked so highly- it takes several years of being in the periphery before you get any respect.

The difference, of course, is that Stanford is an AQ school. If Stanford went 12-0 this year, or 13-0 in 2012, I would put good money on Stanford getting to the BCS championship game. And it is clear Stanford would get into some BCS bowl game as the conference champion. Why even Wazzu could have reached the same heights and still could get to a BCS bowl game by simply winning the conference.
Of course, I do believe that for recruiting in the future and for ticket sales now it will be better to be ranked as high as possible as quickly as possible.
