What they\'re saying down south - Sue_Ann_Duckett - 09-11-2010

Here\'s the Los Angeles Times game preview:

A more pessimistic one (if you\'re a Bruin fan) from the OC Register.

A detailed breakdown from the Register gives UCLA the edge only on special teams.

UCLA plans to improve its defense this week by playing more freshmen.

The Bruins think their middle linebacker is one of their defensive strong points.

And they expect less Andrew Luck and more ground game from Stanford.

More aches and pains for Kevin Prince.

But he\'ll start anyway.

Yeah, we\'ve lost six straight to UCLA in the Rose Bowl, but Rick Neuheisel is 1-5 against ranked teams since taking over the Bruins job.

A special one for kal readers: The Bruin coaches will be wearing red shirts today.

One little thing about defense--if our defense performs as it did last year, we should be in good shape (surprisingly!): we defended well against bad teams and really poorly against good teams. I suspect UCLA belongs to the former rather than the latter group.

Man,  we gotta beat these guys - Redrum - 09-11-2010

The whole undertone...and overtone in some of these articles,  is that UCLA is an underdog at home.   Don\'t like that.   I like my Pac-10 opponents dazed and confused.  Not focused.

Nice encyclopedic effort there, Sue Ann. Lazy guys like me appreciate it.

IIRC,.... - JohnR34231 - 09-11-2010

......UCLA was one of our better defensive games last year. The offense decided to take the fourth quarter off, but the defense was able to hold down the fort.

Hopefully it won\'t be necessary for them to do it again this year.

Maybe UCLA will suffer a hangover similar from what VT went through to lose to Boise State.  Oh wait, that was because VT flat out sucks.
