Yeah, it does make you wonder what the Oregon schools were thinking.   Worth noting that the Oregon schools didn\'t offer Toby Gerhart, either.

Good find by slide.

I love hearing from Chuck Bednarik and Leroy Keyes.

Yep.  OTOH, just for once... - Redrum - 09-09-2010

I\'d like to hear more NFL old timers say something like:  "Aww, man.  These players today.  They are so much faster and more athletic.  I had some great times and did some good things when I played, but the game today,...whooo-eee.  I\'d never see the field."

Instead we usually get:  " What a bunch of crap the game is.  Spoiled kids who don\'t even know what mud is!  How can you have a championship game with freezing rain and mud?   Don\'t even get me started on the pansies who play only one way.  25-30 plays a game!   That\'s not football.  We used to beat the crap out these kids in gym class just on general principle!  The whole world and America are going to hell and  its because of the wussy football!"

P.S.  Actually we are lucky to hear any of them still talking, I guess.  The brain damage that is emerging as an ever-more-common normal wear and tear of pro football.  I guess we\'re lucky Bednarik is still with us.  Hope he feels lucky, too.

An older article (from Sunday, 9/5) praising Marecic\'s performance and hinting that Skov and Owusu should be good to go against UCLA.

says  Owusu = not yet.   Skov = odds slightly against.  The policy/ethic is that if you don\'t practice you don\'t start.  No idea how active he\'s been at practice this week.   BTW, Skov\'s grandfather-- a Stanford grad-- died midweek.   This might mean that Skov wouldn\'t be available no matter how his infected knee is doing.

Oh man :(  Condolences and sympathies to the Skov family.  Definitely a good reason for personal time off.

Along those lines, Bob Cousy was one old timer who had no rose-colored glasses.  He used to say that, except for Bill Russell, none of his teammates would make a team today\'s NBA.
