It just gets worse for Tedford.

Quote:For the freshmen classes that entered school from 2002-05, Cal’s football GSR was 48 percent and its FGR was 47 percent.

The GSR figure is the lowest in the Pac-12 — lower than Arizona State (63%) … lower than Washington State (53%) … lower than all of ‘em.

That’s worse than losing Big Game or missing the postseason. Much, much worse.

Wow, no pulling punches with that line.

Stanford not shy about promoting the academic achievements of its athletes.  22 Stanford athletics programs compiled graduation rates of 100 percent.

Is this enough to get him fired for "non-performance" or some other contract loophole...and avoid paying him for the next decade or whatever it is?

From the article (emphasis mine):
Quote:(Please note: I wrote a lengthy story three years ago about Cal’s academic success under Tedford.)

How does that compare to Cal’s past performance under Jeff Tedford? Here are the GSR/FGR figures for the previous four years and this year.

2007-08: 53/45
2008-09: 64/57
2009-10: 65/62
2010-11: 54/52
2011-12: 48/47

Notice when Wilner wrote about Cal's academic success -- three years ago. Notice when the prior multi-year upward trajectory in Cal's academic numbers suddenly took a nosedive -- yep, soon after said article.

I hate to deny Tedford the full credit for such a complete failure but I'm filing this one under further evidence that if Wilner's on your side, it's time to buy extra insurance.
