Greetings from a ND fan. - Irishfan - 11-17-2012

Just thought I'd swing by and let you guys know that ND nation is really pulling for you guys tonight(big surprise, I know lol). But not just for the BCS implications, because we have genuine respect for Stanford. It's great to see universities that still do it the right way on and off the field. It's good for college football to see that highly regarded academic institutions can still thrive in college football.

Go Cardinal! Beat the Ducks!

PS. I don't think forward progress was stopped.

This guy's up to something...

Re: Greetings from a ND fan. - Irishfan - 11-17-2012

I'm honestly not here to troll, just wanted to wish you guys luck.

Re: Greetings from a ND fan. - oman - 11-17-2012

Just kidding.

I do hope no one get's hurt in the WF/ND game.

Re: Greetings from a ND fan. - Cardinal96 - 11-17-2012

No offense.  But seeing this thread makes me that much angrier about the officiating in South Bend several Saturdays ago.

Pulling for us? Hey, pull this!

Tom Hammond - NBC commentator - during the Stanford - ND game called it  an "all-SAT" battle of top 20 academic schools. Did anyone else laugh at that comment?

I was at the game.  Prior to kickoff, the stadium announcer said "Welcome to the SAT Bowl!"

That's a bit ironic - JohnR34231 - 11-17-2012

Because (at least based on my experience), the ND admissions department doesn't pay that much attention to SAT scores for football recruits.

They look at the player's transcript and decide based on that if they think he has the ability to do the work to get his degree from ND.
If they think he can, they admit him. Not a horrible way of deciding, I don't think.

Tons of studies have shown GPA to be better correlated with college success than SAT, so I suspect that method is sound.

Re: Greetings from a ND fan. - Irishfan - 11-17-2012

Congratulations! What a game that was, you guys pulled through and hung tough. Shaw was correct during the post game interview, minus a few turnovers and you guys win easily. Congrats and thanks for the help!

We didn't do it to help the domers.

Re: Greetings from a ND fan. - pincemob - 11-17-2012

Notre Dame would probably finish 4th or 5th in the Pac 12.  I'd rate them on par with Washington.  As bad as last year's BCS title game was, with LSU not crossing midfield, I think Notre Dame will probably one-up that if they are are allowed to play in a BCS game.  San Jose State would beat ND on a neutral field, for sure.

Re: Greetings from a ND fan. - yvonne - 11-17-2012

Don't worry. SC will beat ND with their backup QB.

Re: Greetings from a ND fan. - iyengar06 - 11-17-2012

I don't blame ND fans for being excited about Stanford's latest impressive victory.

But as a Stanford fan and someone who roots against ND every week, I'd rather see Notre Dame lose to Alabama by 25 than have USC knock them out next week. ND is the weakest #1 team I can remember in recent years, and I can't wait for them to be exposed.

Re: Greetings from a ND fan. - OutsiderFan - 11-17-2012

While Stanford has been unlucky, Notre Dame has been living with a rabbit's foot up its ass.

Stanford was ROBBED at Notre Dame, on both the B.S. PI call in the 4th quarter, and in OT.  Notre Dame by all rights should have lost to Pitt.

The reality is Stanford would be the BCS #1 team right now if Hogan played against UW and ND.  And were it not for the horrible officiating, Stanford would be no worse than BCS #2 right now, even with a loss to Washington.

I never say this, but Fight On, USC.  Notre Dame is not deserving of playing for a championship.

Re: Greetings from a ND fan. - washingtonismoney - 11-18-2012

Personally I can't wait until we focus on what's important: the backup holder controversy.

Re: Greetings from a ND fan. - Farm93 - 11-18-2012

If SC beats ND, then it looks like that would put 2 SEC teams into the BCS title game.  No thanks.

At this point, I want ND to beat SC.  So that all SC fans can understand how ugly 2013 & 2014 will be with Kiffin and without Barkley.

The SEC is going to win the BCS CG anyway, so I would rather watch them destroy ND than see another SEC v SEC game.

Re: Greetings from a ND fan. - Hurlburt88 - 11-18-2012

I can't root for the university of spoiled children to beat anyone.  and I would love for kiffen to disappear uncermoniously

Re: Greetings from a ND fan. - 3card - 11-18-2012

Watching the $C/UCLA game yesterday I couldn't help but wonder whether Barkley might be massively overrated.  After seeing one of the horrible passes Lee caught, I was thinking -- would Nunes be in the Voldemort conversation if he was throwing to these guys?  ;)

Anyway, just a thought for the game against N.D. I wouldn't be surprised if $C has a Cassel or two sitting on the bench who won't be a big step down given the quality of the guys running the routes.
