Richard Sherman. And to think, we knew him when. -

I had heard that Richard Sherman has vastly exceeded expectations in the NFL, but this piece goes beyond that and rates him as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Not bad for a kid who used to be a wide receiver. Even though he had some trouble after converting, I'll always hold a soft spot in my heart for him. After all, how many people can say they made two brobdingnagian plays against USC, one on each side of the ball?
Anyway, here's the link. It's a great read.

On PTI last week, Ron Jaworski told Wilbon and Kornheiser that he thought Richard Sherman was the best shutdown corner in the NFL now that Revis is injured.

I wonder if we'll ever see Sherman as a receiver again just for kicks :)Â
Also, Sherman is taller than Mark Sanchez...! In a league where DBs tend to be shorter and faster, a 6'3" CB will definitely put a wrench in your offensive plans.

It is amazing when you consider how much of 2009 he spent being thoroughly abused by opposing receivers. Kudos to him for having the courage to make the shift and stick it out. I wonder if he had any chance of making it in the NFL as a WR.
I saw him at a Stanford baseball game last spring and he is a big dude, no doubt.

In our delightful 55-21 blowout of the Figueroa Institute in 2009, Sherman took the air out of a Figueroan comeback attempt by intercepting the Barkmeister and taking it to the house. The Figs were still making it a contest until then. Sherman's pick crushed them. It was wonderful.
On the way out of the stadium, I saw a poor Figueroa fan sprawled on the grass (lucky for him it wasn't pavement). He'd had a heart attack. An ambulance arrived shortly and took the poor guy away.

I really wish I didn't have to update this thread, but there are reports that Richard Sherman will be suspended for violating the NFL's PED policy.
