SJSU leading LA Tech - CompSci87 - 11-24-2012

Fales threw a bullet to put them up 17-6.

Re: SJSU leading LA Tech - 81alum - 11-25-2012

SJSU wins 52-43.  That game earlier in the season is looking better than it did at the time, when I thought a close win over SJSU was a sign of weakness.  They are 10-2.

Re: SJSU leading LA Tech - estephan500 - 11-25-2012

Does someone have a sense of what San Jose state gets in the postseason?

Re: SJSU leading LA Tech - pincemob - 11-25-2012

I don't know exactly what bowl they will get, but there are many conferences that did not fill their bowl tie-ins (insufficient # of 6-win teams), so there are ample opportunities.  The Pac 12 was not one of those conferences, and it looks like our tie-in opponents are filled (Navy is already somehow slotted into the Hunger Bowl, and it looks like the MWC, Big 12, and ACC can fill the slots in the other games).    I am happy for SJSU, although the last thing we need on our schedule is a tough game from them.

Re: SJSU leading LA Tech - Farm93 - 11-25-2012

What a run.  They absolutely dominated teams that played on that swampy turf.

The coach is sure to leave for a better opportunity, but that is the longer term.  I love reminding SC fans that SJSU was the best California team Stanford played this year.

SJSU will get to play in any number of lower tier games, and at 10-2 they likely will beat the unmotivated, mediocre team from the "major" conference.

Re: SJSU leading LA Tech - Gauss - 11-25-2012

Very happy for the Spartans. Reading Wilner's columns you start growing fond of this plucky team, and the improvement over the last 3 years has been remarkable. Plus, they improve our Strength of schedule (#5 hardest SoS in Sagarin).

Hope they get a nice bowl.

Re: SJSU leading LA Tech - TreeWeird - 11-25-2012

SJSU is #25 in BCS standings this week.  Great recognition for them.  Despite the risk (and historically reality) of losing to them from time to time, I'd much rather see a reasonably competitive game against a team that might boost our SOS.

Re: SJSU leading LA Tech - terry - 11-25-2012

I'd rather kick San Jose State's butt every time we play them. I don't want them to even come close to us. I don't care about what they do in the rest of their games.

Re: SJSU leading LA Tech - washingtonismoney - 11-25-2012

The odd 10-win season aside, there's little margin in playing SJSU aside from tradition. Human voters seem to give zero weight to beating SJSU vs beating West Coastal Carolina or whatever. (That's part of the SEC secret: not just scheduling cupcakes, but scheduling the lightest, fluffiest, creamest cupcakes available.)
