The analysis on your site is good. And the breakdown of the Stanford-Oregon game was really interesting. But the folks here who are interested already know about your site. You don't need to start a new self-promoting thread here every time you have a new blog post.

The only interest we have in Chip's offense is watching stanford stop it.

You can't prima facie declare this post to be self-promoting...after all, we did mention our appreciation of X's and O's analysis earlier--at least, I did; sorry if that's going to offend anyone. spreadgeek isn't trolling, and even if Oregon's offense isn't immediately relevant right now, I won't hold this post against the OP. I wouldn't quite be as charitable had someone else posted about, say, Alabama's offense--definitely less germane.

I don't have any problem with spreadgeek posting here, but I thought the subject line was misleading this time. I was expecting a thread talking in general about upcoming bowls of interest.

It looks a lot clearer with the table borders, but I wasn't able to get those up right away, and I'm burned out on manual table entry right now :p At first glance, the Pac-12 is favored in most of its games. I might have questions about Boise St. vs. UW and Baylor vs. UCLA though. Boise St. is always a dangerous opponent (ask Oklahoma about that), and Baylor can put up points in a hurry. The other games look eminently winnable, so I'd wager a baseline conference record of 6-2. UW could beat BSU though--it's a coin flip imho. Baylor is something else--if they stopped Optimus Klein once, they could stop Brett Hundley (Johnathan Franklin might have something to say).

Did anyone else gulp when they realized the Rose Bowl's PER TEAM payout was $17M? That's a brobdingnagian chunk of change.

Cal's share would pay for about 1/6th of Tedford's buyout. Oregon will help with another 1/12th or so. :P
Anyone know how the back-end financing works? How much of that money the bowl has to come up with vs. how much the BCS pitches in etc.

$17M is the payout for each of the BCS bowls, IIRC. However, if your conference has two teams playing in the BCS, the second team paricipation is only $6.5M.
Where does the remaining $10.5M go? Whoever benefits from that has a clear incentive to make sure the big conferences get multiple bids. NIU going instead of Oklahoma makes a big differences in someone's annual operating budget...
And of course, N.otre D.ame, not having a conference affiliation, reaps the entire $17M benefit for participating in a BCS bowl. No dividing that chunk 10-12 ways (net of expenses.) Will the ACC be pissed that N.otre D.ame will benefit from the conference affiliation for Bowls but not share the BCS (or maybe their contract has some sharing in case of BCS pay out?)

I don't think ND gets the full payout of a BCS conference automatic qualifier. I think they get something like $6 million. But they do get to keep it all. I think ND also gets a guaranteed payout around $1.7 million every year if they don't make a BCS bowl.
NIU also doesn't cost as much as a BCS auto qualifier. I think something like $12 million gets split up among the non-automatic conferences as a result of NIU getting to a BCS bowl.
So ND getting in doesn't hurt the overall BCS finances. But NIU getting in (over an at-large from an automatic qualifying conf) does increase the overall payout. Not sure whose pocket that comes out of though.

I think...with parking and handling fees... that's what my block of ten tickets cost.

So each of those Pac-12 schools aside from Oregon owes Stanford a good measure of thanks over the last two bowl seasons...
