Peter Kalambayi is a first team all-american, as is Jabrill Peppers.

we land Kalambayi, but we offered at least 5 others in the '13 class.  hopefully we get better traction in '14.

I understand the sentiment, but given the fact that we recruit nationally and these guys (especially the players who combine excellent academics and athleticism) have offers from tons of top programs, including strong academic institutions, near home and family, 20% success is not bad.  And, of course, maybe some of those we offered never made it past admissions.

We'll keep having success on the field as long as we keep finding and developing guys the so-called experts miss, like Trent Murphy, a low-3 star on many boards, who was arguably our best LB this year.

20% looks to be about our rate of landing for all offers this year.  Shaw et al are much more selective and do not offer nearly as many prospects as previous regimes, which I think is a good thing given how long the staff has been on recruits (SO years plus).  however, I don't think the Parade teams have this many players with Stanford level academics, so I'd hope for a better landing rate particularly when we can focus more attention on each recruit given the small size of the '13 class.

I agree about the ability to spot and develop talent.  Harbaugh, Shaw et al have shown this ability over time.  this difference shows up on our depth, which used to hurt but now is a strength of the program.  Â
