It's entertaining reading all these articles by people who are just now discovering what we have known for a couple of years. Although the article doesn't mention it, I assume that there are adults around some of the young players who will remind them the Luck took all four years to develop his skills. Who knows. Maybe finishing school will become fashionable.

Rookie of the Year? - Leftcoast - 12-26-2012

Andrew Luck is in the mix but perhaps getting overlooked due to the flashier Robert Griffin in Washington or the late peaking Russell Wilson in Seattle.

This Indy based blogger thinks that would be a shame and puts forward a strong case for Luck.  He stops just short of promising a sock in the nose to any voter who thinks differently but ... I think he has it in  him.

Actually, all three of these guys are doing great and 2011 is looking like the best Quarterback draft since some guys named Elway, Marino and Kelly hit the league in 1983.  But Geesh, from this fans perspective isn't it time Luck caught a break with one of these awards?

The great thing about Luck is that he's not done improving--he's pushing himself all the time, and though most of his skill set is there, I'm sure there's polish and poise yet to come that will really put him head and shoulders above the rest.

If Luck doesn't win it, I'm rooting for Wilson over Griffin, not because I have anything against Griffin, but just to see the reaction of the Griffin supporters who are faced with a "flash in the pan" guy coming in late in the season to take the award away from their guy who's been doing a very good job all season long... you know, kind of like happened with the Voldemort last year ...

All in all, though, leftie is right -- it'sbout time for Luck to get one of these.

Well, aside from having perhaps the quickest release of any QB ever, unparalleled pocket presence, and the most game winning drives in history, I suppose you could say that.

But he does hold some post-season distinctions, particularly being the quarterback of the losing team in the most lopsided game in AFC playoff history.

One of my all time favorite studio moments was when (before Payme Manning won one) Boomer Esiason referred to Manning as the Dan Marino of his generation. The production chief deftly switched to Marino for a reaction shot.  All time greatest display of restrained anger I've ever seen.

Riiiight, and Andrew Luck never won the Pac-12 championship or the Voldemort.

The Dan Marino-era Dolphins made the playoffs almost every year and were the winningest team in professional sports. Whereas the Dolphins now...

Luck has a lot of upside. We know he is an accurate passer -- he holds the Pac-12 record for completion percentage. His completion percentage is going to go up as he gets more accustomed to the game and gets a better team around him. He's just going to get better and better.

I'm not sure how many of these guys have an actual vote, but the 5 panelists voted 2 for Luck, 2 for RGIII, and 1 for Wilson. My money is on RGIII to win the award, but perhaps it's not as much of a done deal as I had supposed.
