Interesting Jordan Najvar - Chase Thomas Twitter Exchange - stan01 - 12-30-2012

Remember TE Jordan Najvar, who transferred to Baylor after his freshman year at Stanford?

Jordan Najvar ‏@jnaj18
"no lie, i truly believe are team can beat anyone in the nation! right now there is no one playing as good as us. if u want some come get it"
"n to all these anaylists saying the Pac 12 is a fast conference......what y'all smoking!? we ran laps around them. Pac 12 is a poor mans SEC"

Chase Thomas ‏@CTcard44
"@jnaj18 didnt you transfer bc you couldnt play in the #pac12"

Najvar's response:
"@CTcard44 haha I was waiting for you to respond chase! I'm just saying ucla didn't represent y'all's conference well."
"@CTcard44 and don't worry I was talking smack to them about my stanford boys waxing that ass twice"

Gotta love Chase.

My god.  Don't show Najvar's grammar and spelling to Outsider Fan's USC alum friend.

that was the sound of some public backtracking...

Actually, Najvar turned out to be pretty good - Redrum - 12-31-2012

I don't know he would have emerged as the best of our recent TE group, particularly w/ Ertz in action,  but he became The Man at TE for Baylor.  Apparently there were some Texas/ California culture and homesickness issues also in play w/ his transfer back to Baylor.  Vaguely remember some "fit" and possibly religion issues, too but can't find a reference.  Baylor is the Baptist Notre Dame.  Named Big-12 Honorable mention at TE.  Whatever,  Baylor's offense had no problems making the Bruins look silly in their bowl game.

Is it possible the Bruins have a motivation problem? They certainly didn't show up for our first game with them. I wonder if they were less than enthusiastic for this bowl game after getting so close to the Rose. Not that that's a valid excuse but could be a reasonable explanation of what transpired.

That said, the Pac overall isn't looking that hot in the bowl season so far. Hope the top two teams are better than the rest seem to imply.

Is UCLA a young team? They were certainly up and down. They were motivated for SC (and who wouldn't be after SC unabashedly ran up the score on them the year before?), but they were thoroughly trounced by the boys across the Bay, who were having internal issues of their own. That's often the mark of an inexperienced team.

Back then, people weren't sure that Toilolo would stick at Tight End.  He was also a dominate Defensive End in high school.
