Aaron Bright sighting? - socalstanfan1 - 01-12-2013

Since I am abroad I am unable to actually watch Stanford basketball.  But just judging from the box scores, it looks like Aaron Bright has taken an enormous step backwards, a regression that really hurts this team in tight games.  Has anyone heard what are the issues with Bright?  It seems to me that the best lineup for this team is Bright running the point and Randle at shooting guard.  Is it just a physical? An injury?

This post could be rewritten nearly word-for-word, replacing "Chasson Randle" for "Aaron Bright" in all instances.

The answer, of course, is that it starts at the top.

I tend to agree, but I guess I'm a bit more surprised at Bright's regression.  Even as I was criticizing Dawkins last season for not developing his talent, Bright always struck me as the exception to the rule: the one player who kept making improvements in his game.  Until now, when he has just disappeared.  Randle's play has been spotty (maybe that is being generous); Powell has made a nice step forward, Huestis is Huestis.  But the biggest disappointment for me has been Bright, maybe because I had the most hope for him to really orchestrate the offense this year.

"Since I am abroad I am unable to actually watch Stanford basketball."

If you have a high band width internet connection, there are some sites where you can watch Stanford sporting events for free:

http://www.thefirstrow.eu/

If you don't have a high band width connection, you can listen to some events here:

A bit of caution when watching streaming videos -- Do not download any video players. They are notorious for viruses.

Hey EP,, thanks for all the suggestions.  Unfortunately, I'm in China, and without a functioning VPN, so the Great Fire Wall is doing its job all too well, not only blocking freedom of expression, but also decent access to Stanford Athletics.

Not to give anyone a free pass, but Bright had shoulder surgery that kept him off the court for months and then suffered a sprained ankle that kept him out of several games.  He had his best stretch of the season in the 2nd half of the WSU game.  Unfortunately, that didn't carry over to the UW game.

Wonder what the new AD is thinking as he watches this team...
