Stanford looking good, but David Shaw is going to have to recruit this kid personally because Urban Meyer is relentless.  Nice to see USC and UCLA aren't in the picture, and Notre Dame is clearly a fall back option for him.  Pretty incredible to see Alabama bringing up the rear.  Peppers would be the highest rated recruit Stanford football has ever landed, correct?

I know Julian Jenkins was the #1 DE according to Scout in 2002 but he was far from being the overall top prospect.

Re: Jabrill Peppers - StannyBoy - 02-12-2013

USC was in his early top 5 but he seems to have dropped them for Bama. But after their latest string of arrests I think Jabrill will realize the average kid who plays football there is a little different than Stanford.

also, I saw someone tweet Peppers the other day with a link to an article about how Meyer is shady with recruits and players and forces them out, lies, etc. so he's definitely aware Meyer is no saint.

Re: Jabrill Peppers - fullmetal - 02-12-2013

The Florida program collapsed under Meyer's reign there, and if that doesn't give any AD some pause, well, then that AD might just be desperate.

Peppers is a serious student.  I'm not worried about The Ohio State University.  They don't play school at my other alma mater.  At least the football players don't.  Us 3-4 year olds, on the other hand, aka the Little Buckeyes of the Ed School's lab school, it really was play school.

OutsiderFan, what makes you think Notre Dame is a fall back option?  Peppers goes to a Catholic school.

Re: Jabrill Peppers - OutsiderFan - 02-12-2013

I say N.D. is a fall back option because he has them #4 in his Top 5, and his quote was "I like them for a lot of the same reasons as Stanford" (priority on academics).

My assumption is Peppers will not commit to Stanford until admissions clears him because there is no way he would ever let anyone think he didn't get admitted.  The first story I saw on Peppers suggested he has a chip on his shoulder to be the best (exemplified in his comments about overtaking Hand as the #1 overall prospect), and he wants to get admitted to Stanford as part of proving he is the best.  To me, he's the embodiment of the "Stanford kid" Shaw speaks of and that's where he will end up.  Peppers seems a bit like Myron Rolle  (Florida State, Rhodes Scholar), who probably would have gone to Stanford had Stanford not been terrible in the mid 2000s.

I didn't see this before - it's from last October

makes it clear that Peppers sees Stanford differently and positively compared to pure football schools.

NOTE: Changed the link - for some reason the espn hyperlink was displaying as a white box

All I'm seeing is a white box there Robbie?

Re: Jabrill Peppers - Bruce Wang - 02-12-2013

Just watched that excellent video.  Thanks for posting, Robbie.

This is what Peppers should tell the haters. "If I go to Stanford, I will play against the SEC at a bowl game."
