Dr. Saturday looks at Stanford:

Nice write up. I still have to mentally pinch myself when I read things like "In the past three seasons, Stanford is 35-5 and played in three bowl games". These are the good ol' days. Let's hope they keep on coming.

Can't wait for Hogan and Kaumatule to develop a "report." But which kind? A book report? A CBO report on the effects of a sequester? The possibilities are endless!

"Building a good report with Hogan will be key this spring."

It's always academics first at Stanford.
(I see you beat me to this, WIM)

Yours is better, I think.

TPS report.

I liked the article, not because the content was new to me but that I think this kind of positive press is really good for the program.

Now we all realize the most important result of Andrew Luck's extended stay was not the Fiesta Bowl.  It was the opportunity for Hogan to get his only true frosh year assignment: watch Luck.

And now Burns and hopefully Chryst will get that same opportunity.

Clearly, Watson has been watching too much Colbert.

Hmmm, guess it's a reflection of how I tend think that I skipped past the ego masturbation and focused on this

Quote:Gone are Zach Ertz and Levine Toilolo, who accounted for 10 of the team’s 19 touchdowns....

and this

Quote:Add to that the loss of the two tight ends and top receivers Drew Terrell and Jamal-Rashad Patterson, who were the only receivers to have touchdown catches,...

I know the team was much more defentsively-oriented than in previous season but is that right, Stanford only scored NINETEEN touchdowns last season??

I'm also wondering about the lack of development of the entire wide receiver core (see what I did there??). Is it a lack of talent on the team or that the coaches aren't able to coach 'em up? Neither Doug Baldwin nor Ryan Whalen were exactly speed burners but they still managed to get the job done with lots of catches and yardage. Since then? Well, not much to talk about.

Must've meant only 19 TD receptions. Stepfan had around that in rushing TDs himself.

Yeah, but even so, 19 passing TDs is pretty terrible. This is why developing some receivers (and TEs, to a lesser extent) is priority #1 in my mind. If we can do that this year then I like our odds. If we can't then we'll need to win an absurd number of close games again.
