WBB: Stanford 71 Washington 36 - 81alum - 03-01-2013

Well, this is a game I did not see.  While I hate the Friday-Sunday schedule that TV forced the women to adopt, I did not notice that they switched it back to Thursday-Saturday for this weekend.  Still, last night I flipped onto the Pac-12 channel and saw the schedule information "WBB: Stanford at Washington" and thought "thank goodness I happened on this!"  But Pac 12 was bringing a repeat of the Rose Bowl at that point--even though their scheduling information said the WBB should have been on.  I just assumed that the Pac 12 schedule was incorrect as it often is.  But it looks like the schedule was correct and it was the programming that was incorrect.

From the news stories and box scores this was more like an exhibition game.  McGuff had benched a couple of his best players for rules violations.  Even so, apparently Washington led 9-3 in the early going.  Any team with Kristi Kingma is going to put up a fight.

In looking over the boxscore I see Chiney with another double double.  The news stories indicate that Bonnie broke the game open with flawless three point shooting early on, but that she cooled off and wound up 5/15 from three.  Also notable, Amber had 12 points and 4 assists, Joslyn had 12 points, and Ruef had 6 assists.  Overall we had 18 assists on 30 made baskets, and only 7 turnovers.  Even those 7 turnovers look better when you consider that 4 of them were by Ruef, who probably made them while amassing those 6 assists.

I was a bit surprised to see that the subs did not get even more minutes.  Sara's minutes are dwindling--although she started, she was down to 11 minutes in this blowout.  Bonnie and Taylor each had more than 20 minutes, Jasmine had 10, but Tess and Erica had less than 5 minutes each.  It looks to me that the tournament roster has three starters (Chiney, Amber, and Joslyn) with five (Ruef, Greenfield, Samuelson, James and Camp) basically splitting the remaining 80 minutes of time.

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who saw the game.  Was it in fact on the Pac12 network at some point?

Re: WBB: Stanford 71 Washington 36 - BobK - 03-01-2013

The game was on the PAC 12 channel as advertised. I brobdingnagian you to look at go Stanford and not miss another. :).  Sat's game same channel at noon

Amber may be becoming the best PG in the PAC 12.  Sara picked up a quick foul came out and Bonnie came in and hit 4 of her first 5 threes.  So Bonnie keep playing.

Washington missed 2 of their top 3 players who were suspended for this game.  Still we held udub to 15 % for the night.  Washington did play a very good 2-3 zone which meant a lot of threes and sadly a lot of misses in the 2nd half.

No Toni

81, did you also miss the change of game time? It was (I think) originally scheduled for 8pm with no TV, but ended up being played at 7pm on Pac-12 Network. The Rose Bowl replay was shown immediately afterward.

Re: WBB: Stanford 71 Washington 36 - 81alum - 03-01-2013

To be honest, at first I had no idea the game was last night.  Then on the Pac 12 network yesterday evening I saw that they were replaying the Rose Bowl.  It was only when I hit my ComCast "Info" button that the information on the crawler at the bottom of the screen popped up "WBB: Stanford at Washington."  So when Pac 12 was replaying the Rose Bowl Comcast thought they were supposed to be playing the WBB game.  When I saw that disjunction I concluded that Comcast must have gotten the wrong night, since the games are always on Friday, as everyone knows ><.

Comcast and Pac 12, though, almost never have their schedules synced.  Last fall when I would try to figure out when Pac12 was going to replay the prior Stanford football game the Comcast schedule would almost always show Cal's game in the slot they said they were going to show Stanford, somebody else's game in the slot they said they were going to show Cals, etc.  I could only ever find the Stanford replay by keeping the TV on and waiting to see what would come up.

I don't know why it should be so difficult for Comcast to provide an accurate electronic schedule of Pac 12 programming.

Re: WBB: Stanford 71 Washington 36 - 81alum - 03-01-2013

The electronic Comcast Information schedule shows a replay of the Stanford Washington game today at 3:00 pacific.  What are the odds that is accurate?  We shall see......

Well the Comcast schedule was correct.  Lol

Re: WBB: Stanford 71 Washington 36 - CompSci87 - 03-01-2013

I have Comcast too (in Palo Alto) and didn't have any problems with the schedule being wrong last night. I had checked the schedule a few days in advance, saw the game was supposed to be televised at 7pm, and set my DVR to record it. I actually got home after the game was over, and the game was recorded properly. Strange.

Yes, the replay was on as advertised, and so I saw the game.  Very impressive first half for Bonnie.  Now off to the Palouse.  I imagine they fly in to Spokane--hopefully good practice for next month?

They flew this morning.  Gee sight seeing not in Seattle but in Pullman.
