I've been a paid season tix holder for years. Paid. :)
BTW for season tickets it comes to $5 each.

That list of sports requiring tickets is rather short deal compared to other NCAA D-1 programs. And all of the sports on the list have had a fair amount of NCAA success over the last 5-8 years, with the possible exception of Men's basketball team. >:(
And free parking is a nice bonus. Most schools charge big money for parking and bigger money for parking near athletic facilities on the weekends.
Garvin, I think baseball has charged non-students for tickets for at least 25 years with reserved seating dominating the scene since the recent seating renovations.
For those unwilling to pay $$ to watch college sports, the Men's Volleyball team probably represents the best value for families. Indoor venue, music, plenty of seats, liberal carry-in food policies, etc.

Baseball charged students when I was on campus in the late 90's.
It all feels a bit penny-wise and pound foolish to be charging students anything, unless the ticket is in really high demand as basketball was in the late 90's. I guess you set an expectation that you won't always be a free rider, but in general, most teams would benefit from the atmosphere that more student support brings and enjoying the success on the field increases student bonds to campus.
I love the men's volleyball games for my family. The kids have room to run around in the upper deck, they have concessions, the students dressed in goofy costumes provide distraction during time outs.

Hmm, I didn't realize Men's volleyball played games in Maples these days, when I was in school in the mid 00's, they played every game in Burnham. While that wasn't bad, it wasn't particularly great a place to watch.
I'd pick water polo as the best free sport. Avery is a great venue and the team(s) consistently good.
