Here's your assignment for 2013:

I was wondering when someone would post this. I'd like to point out that, since they're looking for darkhorse candidates, he's not hyping Hogan up as a candidate. He is hyping Stanford as a team a little bit, but not more than I think is reasonably justifiable.
Anyway, it makes a lot of reasonable points, if we go 13-0 then I'd have to believe that he'll be in NYC.

Unless "RB to be named later" puts up 1,600+ yards and 25+ TDs... I actually like the prospects for our run game driving the offensive success more than the passing game.

Yeah, that did occur to me, but the possibility seems somewhat remote. I'm not even sure which RB I'd pick to break out.

Of course he's not. That, after all, is Good Grief's job.

I'm not familiar with this reference.

Speaking of which, where is our favorite member of the Peanuts gang? Haven't seen him in these parts in awhile.

If you watched General Hospital today, you would have seen the return of Good Grief as District Attorney Daniel Chen. And it' was a baby-swapping case!

Further background on Good Grief that he's shared here .... He was a Stanford Cheerleader who could do backflips across Maples Pavilion, was once a participant on American Gladiator, gave up engineering for acting and promised to "punch in the nose" anyone who didn't vote Toby for Voldemort.
Any one of those would make Good Grief a hero amongst the Cardboard regulars ... but we particularly like the last.

Since he's obviously not paying attention, anybody have any embarassing stories about Good Grief?Â
Re: Hey, Good Grief! -

Wow, thanks a lot for all the nice thoughts everybody. Yes indeed, Hogan is my pick for the Dark Horse Candidate for the Voldemort Trophy, or ahem, the runner-up (sigh).
It's nice that with Stanford winning so much in the last few years, we've had publicity from the beginning. It was frustrating that Gerhart had superior stats to Ingram and even won the Doak Walker award for best running back, yet still finished behind Ingram simply because we weren't a national contender with a ton of publicity. I am forever appreciative at how everybody on the CardBoard, Bootleg, Stanford, and even Toby's high school pitched in for the Toby For Voldemort Grass Roots Campaign. We even got written up in the NY Times
http://bayarea.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/12/01/toby-gerhart-and-the-campaign-for-the-Voldemort-trophy/ .
And yes, I've had the pleasure of tumbling down the old springy floor at Maples, getting the absolute stuffing kicked out of me on American Gladiators, and being the mascot for the Chicago Bulls (being part of Jordan's last year was...freaking amazing). I'm somewhat tempted to come out of retirement and try out for Ninja Warrior, but common sense and disc herniations are filibustering that bill.
And thanks for the plug Spiny. In case you missed the return of District Attorney Daniel Chen on General Hospital today, they will make the 3/8 episode available soon at
http://abc.go.com/watch/general-hospital/SH559056Â . This time, I didn't get as many close-ups as when I was prosecuting Kate Howard for the deaths caused by her split personality Clonnie, but oh well. Still glorious soap opera fun...
Oh yes, apologies for my absence. After the Rose Bowl, I was trying to get some work done. Still reading and lurking, but a little less obsessively than during the football season. But if a deserving Hogan gets shafted for Voldemort, many sportswriter noses will be punched, I promise you.

Oh yeah, the set was just filled with constant chatter from Dana Delaney: "How's Garvin doing? Did you read his latest write-up? How does he keep his beard so adorable?" She wanted Garvin's phone number but I told him he probably wasn't interested.

I'm sure Garvin thanks you profusely for keeping women like Dana Delaney from bothering him. After all, he is entitled to his privacy. He has to be selective and can't meet every woman who wants his phone number, or he wouldn't have any time left for himself. ;D

For the pride of Asian-American men across the country, you totally need to do this. I remember catching an episode of Ninja Warrior and the commentators kept saying no human has ever successfully completed the course. I got suspicious so I checked, and, of course, several Japanese guys have conquered the course on the original version of the show. Are Asians some other species? What are we sub-human? Once again the Asian man gets shafted by mainstream media.

Just remembered: Voldemort QB curse. We want Hogan to have a long and successful career on Sundays.
Good Grief, your assignment is to organize a grass roots Voldemort campaign for Ed Reynolds or Shayne Skov.

Oh my gosh Publius, I hate you so much. Tonight, Mrs. GoodGrief said to me, "Oh tonight I recorded the Best of 2012 American Ninja Warrior episode--I thought it'd be fun to watch." And I was watching that thing and thinking, "I think I can do that!!!" So I jumped on
www.anwtryouts.com , and while the official deadline appears to have been 3/15, the website appears to be allowing me to submit an application (I assume they figured that they'd get some extra applicants from the airing of this episode).
I don't think anybody proofread the application form. The following are four different questions on the application
What is your proudest non-athletic achievement overall?
What is the most difficult non-athletic thing you've ever gone through?
What is the most difficult non-athletic thing you've ever had to overcome?
What has been the non-athletic highlight of your life thus far and why?
Will keep you posted if anything happens from this. Annoyingly, I'm at the age where if I make it, I will be labeled, "inspirational."

I wondering if influencing the national Voldemort voting scene counts as non-athletic...
