And? How long are you going to leave us hanging?

AND???
Re: I just got a call from -

I sent him an article from Stanford magazine that dealt with Stanford's excellence, and he called me directly. I'm impressed.

But when you said he should be fired what did he say? :P

I can report that he was probably not calling from Maples, however, as he does not appear to be among the 400+ people currently joining me in the stands. But, hey, there's still 4:30 on the scoreboard clock 'till tip-off.

I'm not one of the three.

Well Walton implied that Muir should have been on Twitter or Facebook trying to get the kids to Maples, so maybe he should have done that instead of calling Yvonne.
JD's boring style and unimpressive coaching record are now making Muir, the Stanford AD and Stanford University students look bad. Muir should take pictures of Maples because this is the future of Maples under JD.

He, Muir, believes we were really close. I brought up Bill Walsh's second stint as football coach, and being in so many games his final year, and how the unmentionable coach came in and said that wasn't good enough.
There's no way Muir could go back on his word at this point. He had already made the announcement. I wouldn't want an AD who did that. I mostly wanted to express my disapproval at what I perceived as an acceptance of mediocrity.

Does Stanford have the freedom to just give the tix away? Whenever I've gone to post-season games at Stanford, I've gotten the impression that ticket prices are decided by the organizer. Maybe the NIT would be okay with Stanford letting folks in for free, but I get the sense that they want their pound of flesh.
I wonder how many people would have come, even with the prospect of free tix.
There was absolutely ZERO EXCITEMENT last night;s game. - berto41 - 03-20-2013
Giving tickets away would not have made much of a difference. Dawkins' squad plays such mediocre and uninspired ball that after 5 years of it the fan base doesn't care any more. Muir apparently didn't take that into account. I used to go to games, now not.

I went to the NIT home games last year and found those exciting. After that I thought I'd go to some games this year too, but the team was really disappointing. I almost went to last night's NIT game, but was working late from home on an urgent problem, so I watched it on a second computer instead while waiting for recompiles and tests to run. Despite being close, it was pretty dull to watch and I didn't regret not being there in person. The team played some uninspired, error-prone ball that made me wonder what they've learned this season.

Let's hope the team wakes up and finds enough inspiration to make a run. Is Ray Lewis around?

For all intents and purposes, Stanford DID give away the tickets to last night's game. I paid $15 to sit in a seat that cost $165/game to sit in for the regular season [Section 3, lower reserved -- $2000 [buck/cardinal club donation] plus $795 [season ticket] divided by 17 games] = $164.41 per game]
This year's marketing slogan was: "Commit to the Court."Â I'm afraid CompSci87 may have already hit upon next year's:
"
Despite being close, it was pretty dull to watch and I didn't regret not being there in person."
I do think some credit should be given to the 150 [give or take] students who were there, though. With Andrew Zimmerman [looking more mountain man than ever] front and center, they made more noise last night than I can remember at almost any game this season...or maybe it's just the that the upper level bench seats reflect the noise back better when they are [quite literally] entirely empty...
