Ten thoughts about the Notre Dame game:
1. That was just a butt-kicking. Old-fashioned smash-mouth football. Stanford was more physical and imposed its will.
2. How great is this game for Owen Marecic? Wow. A full-length article in Sports Illustrated, and then 2 TDs -- one each way -- on consecutive plays from scrimmage on national TV to ice the game.
3. I\'m worried about injuries. They\'re beginning to pile up. First Toilolo and Stewart, then Whalen, now Michael Thomas and Gaffney. Hope they can come back soon.
4. Stepfan Taylor was nails. He really came through. First career 100 yard game, and a brobdingnagian, game-changing reception. And he can block.
5. A 4-0 record for the first time since 1986! The last time Stanford went 5-0 was in 1951. . .
6. The ND color guy said that Notre Dame "ran into a Stanford defensive juggernaut." My wife\'s comment: "I don\'t think I\'ve ever heard THAT before."
7. Game ball to Vic Fangio. The defense was superb. Once again, the first string defense didn\'t give up a TD. I think the first string has given up just one TD all year long (against Wake). ND finally scored at TD, but it came with the ND first string against the Stanford subs.
8. Nate Whitaker tied a school record with 5 FGs (John Hopkins had 5 FGs against Cal in the 1990 Big Game, including the game-winner.) I told the doubters after Wake last week that there was no need to worry about Whitaker.
9. I loved the pressure on Crist. Don\'t just let the guy sit back there and pick us apart. We\'ve seen that too many times. And they really got after him.
10. Did I mention the smash-mouth physical football? Dang, that looked fun. What a great 3 hour commercial for Stanford football.
All right now!

Mainly the part where we\'d punch them in the face and they couldn\'t do anything about it...so we\'d punch them again and they couldn\'t do anything about it...so we\'d punch them again and they couldn\'t do anything about it....so we\'d.....
Also. Â Who were those imposters in the baby blue jerseys that we beat in the Rose Bowl? Â They just put an emphatic whupping on Texas. Â Guess that makes OUR win all that more impressive, right?
The Holy Trinity:  Notre Dame (check)  USC and Kal  33 percent of the way there.

UCLA gets two quality wins in two weeks....has to help our computer rankings....
We\'ll know a lot more about Oregon after tomight\'s game.

This year there\'s FOUR in that trinity. Â Make room on your pantheon for Pac 10 consensus pick for the Rose Bowl, Oregon. Â Next week.

Yeeeeee!!!
Oh, oh sorry. Â Yes, we must remember to keep new people off the bandwagon.
If you were not on the bandwagon, let\'s review the doubters\' evidence.
Luck threw 2 INTs. Â He is not very good.
The "O" had to settle for 5 FGs. Â Good teams should get TDs.
The "D" looked bad in the last 6 minutes of the game. Â Was it a soft prevent "D" or a worrying trend?
ND is just a 1-3 team. Â They have only beaten Purdue, so they probably are just BAD.
Luck has had two "sub-par" games on the road, and next week that will just not be acceptable.
OK, OK. Â That was for our doubters and stress cases.
For the rest of you...Yeeeeeee! Â Wooo Hoooo!
Once again Luck played just OK, and the team still killed them.
ND looked less talented even though every single recruiting class they have is at least as good as most in the Pac-10.
The D was just crazy good. Â ND had some tough losses, but they were not having any problem moving the ball before today.
Oh, oh and U.C.L.A just crushed another team from Texas. Â UCLA will be ranked in the top 25 after beating Texas and Houston. Â If UCLA is a top 25 team then maybe, just maybe, Stanford really is a top 15 team. Â :)
Next week will be a great showcase for the Pac-10. Â Win or lose it is an absolute delight to know that Stanford is in a game that will get national attention.
And finally...Go Beavs!!! Â IF they win the Pac-10 will earn its rightful place as THE conference that schedules tough and still wins.

I don\'t ever remember seeing a Stanford team completely dominate its opponents phyiscally like this one. Â It is a joy to watch.

Quote:Oregon\'s an important game, but not a sacred mission. Those other teams need to be destroyed, their campuses salted and their names erase from the English language. Oregon merely needs to be beaten. Well, and possibly jailed.
LOL. Love the jailed remark...
All right now! Notre Dame football has become so fat and disgusting that this win was inevitable. Their players are spoiled, decadent, without will or discipline - the opposite of our football team. ND football is just a bunch of people fantasizing about the past. Sorry, domers, life keeps going and the world evolves. I tip my hat to Harbaugh and our players.

i hate that we lost recruits to Notre Dame. Â it\'s like allowing lambs to wander off and be slaughtered.
any team that stands in the way of the Rose Bowl will have a sacred mission outlined for them that week in practice. Â every. Â game. Â matters!

Couldn\'t agree more re: your point #2.
Re: #3, it\'s the Thomas injury that really has me concerned. I love those other guys, and wish we had them all, but at least we have depth at those positions. After MT went down, it looked like we had to abandon our blitzing and play all nickel and dime packages (to make up for the talent downgrade with his replacement?). I know we had a big lead to sit on, and we knew they had to throw at the end, but it sure didn\'t look like we had any choice there. :(
