Re: I knew I liked Neuheisel - pincemob - 04-15-2013

I caught some of the Spring Game on T.V. and Neuheisel and Conway were both very complimentary of Stanford.  I can't recall which of them said it, but they basically said "give me one reason why a talented player would not want to go to Stanford... there aren't any reasons any more".    He also dropped a comment earlier in the broadcast that under Willingham no player would take a Stanford visit without their parents... because the kid might say no, but the parents always said yes.  I thought that was interesting.

Also an interesting anecdote about Te'o in that article you linked.  Sounds like he lied to Neuheisel also, even after Neuheisel succumbed to his extortion attempt and promised the extra scholarship for his little sidekick.  ESPN has been working to rehab his image, even allowing him on Gruden's QB camp show.  I certainly would not want my team picking that guy.

I was really skeptical of Neuheisel as an announcer, but so far he's been really good. Has great insights about players since he scouted a lot of them, and is pretty self-deprecating about having been fired, etc. And he's actually insightful, since he was a pretty good x's and o's coach. Definitely a good pickup for the PAC12 network.

At the very least, I'll take Neuheisel over Bill Walton any day... ;)
